The Associate Director, Digital MedicalStrategyis responsible forthe execution andoperationalization ofdigital initiatives that enable Medical Affairs,leveragingdigital tools and platforms, AI, and integrated data and analytics. The role applies strong scientific and Medical Affairs strategicexpertiseto inform, evaluate, andcontributetocurrent and emerging technologies that support Medical Affairs objectives.
Under the direction of the Executive Director, this positionwillcontribute to anddrive implementation oftheMedical Affairsdigital strategy and roadmap, buildingenterprise-wide foundational and long-termdigitaland AIcapabilities.This role will collaborate with Global and Regional Medical Affairs colleagues and key cross-functional teams including enterprise-wide Medical Affairs, Global Digital Business Team,ClinicalDevelopment, Commercial, Legal, Regulatory, Compliance, and others to develop and drive the adoption and implementation of both internal and external facing digital initiatives.The Assoc Director, DigitalMedical Strategywillalsoleveragedigital tools and capabilities to enhance scientific content anddigital scientific communicationchannels, includingcontributingto and supportingthe strategic planning and execution of high-quality, compliant digital scientific communications across all digital medical channels.

Essential Functions

  • Digital & AI strategy: developand implemententerpriseglobal digital strategy for Medical Affairsacrosstherapeutic areas; build multi-yeardigital medical affairs roadmap and capabilitiesthat support science and Medical Affairs strategic vision.

  • Contribute toand executedigital-forward scientific communication plans,includingmedical websites, portals, social channels& campaigns, videos, digitalpublicationsand congress assetswith afocus onsupporting medical communicationobjectivesand education via the right channelsand content formats.

  • Create and oversee content creation of specialized digital channel content, including social posts, thought-leader videos, disease state education, etc. This role will work with specialized agencies,ITand other internal teams to manage websites and other channels, adapt other medical affairs content for digital channels, and drive medical content review submissions andrevisionsas necessary.This role will apply science and medical strategy tooptimizeand tailor scientific content for HCPaudiences, ensuring that science is accurately interpreted and communicated at scale.

  • Advance analytics &insights;enable enterprise-wideAIsystemsthatintegrateMAinsightswith internal and externaldata sourceswhile ensuringappropriate contextand limitations are built in, protecting and ensuring scientific accuracy and credibility.

  • Under the leadership and direction ofthe Executive Director Medical Communication & Digital Strategy, effectivelyestablishnew key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to evaluate digital initiatives, including social media and digital channel campaigns,and pivot as needed while employing an agile way of working.

  • Identify, evaluate, and prioritizenew technologies, digital trends,and AI use cases (insights, content optimization, Field Medical, Med Info, etc.)ensuring outputs are scientifically valid and inform medical decision-making.

  • Lead pilot programs and scale successful digital initiatives globally.

  • Define tools, analytics, andgovernance for enterprise-wide omnichannel medical engagement strategies and platforms using integrated data and advanced analyticsto better understand individual HCPdecisionmakingand to guide more personalized, impactful Medical Affairs strategies.

  • Technology enablement & vendor oversight:assess innovative digital tools and platforms informed by analytics and big data,optimizedigitalplatformsandtools,ensureseamless integration with Medical Affairs systemsincludingCRM; manage vendor relationships,supportproject budgets, and ensure fair market value assessments for digital initiatives and SOWs.

  • Ensureimplementation ofgovernance strategies, compliance, and risk management.

  • Ensure country and regional compliance, legal, data protection, and regulatory guidelines are followed. Collaborate with IT security and data privacy for the implementation of anynew solutions.

  • Lead and champion change management while driving the understanding and adoption of our digital engagement products and services

  • Lead training and upskilling to users of global medical digital tools, solutions, and resources.

Requirements

  • Advanced scientific terminal degree (MD, PharmD, PhD)required

  • Minimum of8years relevant Medical / Scientific experience and a minimum of8years of pharmaceutical industry experienceora combination of equivalent education andexperience.

  • Strong scientific knowledge andexpertisein Oncology preferred

  • Demonstrated functional and subject matterexpertisein Medical Affairs strategy, activities, systems, and workflows.

  • Demonstrated experience and ability to assess, select,implement, and scaledigital platforms, with AI & Digital Fluency.

  • Must be self-starterto stay informed about the rapidly evolving technology landscape andchampionnew opportunities for innovation and growth.

  • Ability to lead and drive change management (agility, drive clear communication and understanding of new initiatives, stakeholder management, ability to connect with and motivate people and teams), including providing training and upskilling needed to support digital initiatives and technological advancements.

  • Thoroughunderstanding of the pharmaceuticalindustry andextensive experience partnering with cross functional teams across R&D, commercial functions, IT, legal, regulatory, and compliance.

  • Experienceworking across functions, regions and cultures including ability to troubleshoot, influence, and break down barriers within a matrix organization.

  • Demonstrated ability and experience translating data into actionable strategic recommendations with data analytics, dashboards, and data visualization tools.

  • Experience managing, evaluating, and workingwiththird party solution providers, vendors, and agencies.

  • Excellent written, verbal,communicationand presentation skillswith strong interpersonal andproblem-solvingskills.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multi-task, prioritize, think critically, analyze situations, and adapt to change to achievesharedgoals.

  • Able to work hybrid in Nutley, NY (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday in office every week).

  • Ability to travelasneeded toconferencesand internal meetings up to25% of the time.

Eisai Salary Transparency Language:

The annual base salary range for the Associate Director, Digital Medical Strategy, Oncology is from :$170,300-$223,500Under current guidelines, this position is eligible to participate in : Eisai Inc. Annual Incentive Plan & Eisai Inc. Long Term Incentive Plan.

Final pay determinations will depend on various factors including but not limited to experience level, education, knowledge, and skills.
