Job description

Primary Care Medical Director | Southwestern Vermont

Lead a mission-focused primary care team while continuing to care for patients in one of Vermont's most scenic regions. This leadership opportunity offers the ideal blend of clinical practice, mentorship, and strategic influence, all within a schedule intentionally designed to support work-life balance. Practice Overview

  • Fully integrated, whole-person care model with primary care, behavioral health, psychiatry, dental services, and programs addressing food insecurity and social determinants of health
  • Lead and mentor a primary care team that includes nurse practitioners and a strong interdisciplinary support staff
  • Dedicated support staff includes triage nurses, a population health manager, community health worker, referral specialist, and one medical assistant per provider
Schedule

  • Three clinical days per week, including 2.5 days of patient care and a half-day for documentation and administrative work
  • Two days dedicated to leadership responsibilities and program development
  • Patient visit structure designed for thoughtful care: 40 minutes for complex visits and 20 minutes for lower acuity visits
Compensation & Benefits

  • Earn a base salary between 275,000 and 300,000, with the opportunity to reach a base of 325,000.
  • Competitive compensation package including a generous signing bonus, relocation assistance, and student loan support.
  • Five weeks of CTO, eight paid holidays, plus one week of paid CME time and annual CME allowance
  • 401(k) with employer contribution, health coverage with employer-paid family premium support, and paid professional licensing fees
Candidate Requirements

  • Board-certified or board-eligible physician in Family Medicine with experience providing comprehensive primary care across all age groups
  • Interest in leadership, mentorship, and guiding clinical teams; willing to support growth in this area for the right candidate
  • Comfort managing complex chronic conditions in a rural patient population
