Whether that experience is online or in-person, streaming video, theatrical, games, merchandise, events and more, it's powered by the anime content we all love.
Join our team, and help us shape the future of anime!
About the role:
As the Senior Manager, Content Planning, you will be responsible for optimizing seasonal content slates and ensuring it adheres to our broader content strategy. This will also involve collaborating and communicating with other departments such as Finance, Programming/Content Operations, Marketing, etc., to ensure tight alignment between strategy and execution. You will also be responsible for content research and analysis to advise Content leadership and negotiators on the status of content mix and performance.
In the role of Senior Manager, Content Planning, you will report to the Director of Content Evaluation and Planning.
We are considering applicants for the location of Dallas, TX.
Core Areas of Responsibility
Seasonal Simulcast Optimization
  • Partner with the Director of Content Planning to assess seasonal content opportunities and guide slate recommendations that support audience needs, strategic priorities, and overall business goals.
  • Develop planning insights and scenario-based recommendations that help Content leadership evaluate trade-offs, anticipate risks, and align seasonal slates with broader content strategy.

Catalog Planning
  • Develop and maintain a strategic view of the streaming catalog by key performance, audience, regional, localization, and qualitative dimensions to identify opportunities, gaps, and areas of risk.
  • Partner with Content leadership and cross-functional teams to inform catalog investment, localization priorities, regional growth initiatives, and internal understanding of the catalog's strategic value.
  • Influence and recommend launch timing and release strategies across manga, streaming, and theatrical initiatives, ensuring alignment with audience demand, content priorities, market opportunities, and broader business goals.
Cross-Team Communication
  • Own localization recommendations across simulcast and catalog content, balancing content value, audience opportunity, business priorities, and regional growth needs.
  • Represent Content Planning in cross-functional discussions with Business Transformation, GTM, Marketing, Research, Machine Learning, Human Curation, and other operational teams.
Developing Tools/Resources
  • Develop and maintain strategic planning tools that provide a comprehensive view of Crunchyroll's licensed content library, including key quantitative and qualitative performance indicators.
  • Expand content planning resources to better assess market position, identify slate and catalog opportunities, and support GTM planning and risk analysis.
  • Partner with CDI and Content teams to translate viewer behavior, engagement, retention, and audience opportunity insights into recommendations that inform content strategy, acquisition priorities, and business growth.
About You
We get excited about candidates like you, because...
  • 10-12 years of experience in entertainment media, including 5+ years of streaming content or related media programming experience.
  • 5-7 years of relevant experience managing content, ideally at a consumer-facing entertainment, media, gaming, or sports business.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of anime content, genres, audience behaviors, and fandom culture.
  • Experience analyzing, synthesizing, and translating reporting into clear content-planning recommendations.
  • Experience conducting content and audience research to inform programming, planning, and prioritization decisions.
  • Experience optimizing content plans, workflows, and performance strategies using qualitative and quantitative insights.
  • Experience using metrics to track performance of content promotions, identify meaningful success KPIs, report thorough "post-mortems", and iterate to optimize.
  • Experience building compelling and actionable presentations directed at an executive-level audience.
  • Demonstrated expertise using project-management and workflow platforms, preferably Airtable, to manage priorities, coordinate cross-functional dependencies, and optimize team operations.
About the Team
Content Evaluation impacts the entire company, as decisions made about Content determine what ends up in our seasonal slates and therefore what everyone in the company is working on.
