Job description

Position Summary

Williams Jones, founded in 1988, is a SEC-registered investment advisory firm specializing in customized wealth management services for private individuals, retirement plans, and non-profit organizations. The Firm currently manages over $12.5 billion in equity, fixed income and alternative investments. Our team of portfolio managers average 35 years of experience and work directly with each client to determine their investment goals and objectives.

We are seeking an Equity Analyst to join Williams Jones' collaborative team. The Analyst will contribute to the team's coverage of the Financials sector, broadly defined to include Digital Assets, Alternative Asset Managers, Payments, and Fintech Software, while also supporting firm-wide investment research initiatives. The Analyst will take full ownership of their coverage universe and will have direct exposure to the Portfolio Management team - including developing and pitching new ideas to the group.

This is a hybrid position: minimum 4 days in office.

Primary Responsibilities

The Equity Research Analyst responsibilities include the following but are not limited to:

  • Conduct fundamental equity research on companies within the Financials sector, including Digital Assets, Alternative Asset Managers, Payments, Banks, and Fintech Software
  • Maintain detailed financial models and valuation analyses
  • Prepare investment research reports, stock pitches, and sector updates for the portfolio management team
  • Monitor portfolio holdings, industry developments, earnings releases, and regulatory changes across covered sectors
  • Synthesize information from earnings calls, SEC filings, expert network interviews, and industry conferences
  • Collaborate with portfolio managers and fellow analysts to generate and refine investment ideas
  • Present investment recommendations and sector updates to the broader investment team
  • Support ad hoc research projects across the firm as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required, concentration in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field preferred
  • 3+ years of experience in equity research, investment analysis, or a related investment role (buy-side or sell-side)
  • Financials sector experience is not required - strong fundamental research skills and a willingness to develop sector expertise are what matter most
  • Strong financial modeling and valuation skills (comparable company analysis, sum-of-the-parts)
  • Excellent analytical, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Excel, Bloomberg/FactSet, and financial databases
  • Strong use of AI tools and excited about incorporating AI into the investment research process
  • Progress toward CFA designation is a plus but not required
  • Intellectually curious, self-directed, and comfortable working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment
  • Attention to detail with a strong sense of ownership over work product

The annualized "all-in" compensation range for this role is expected to be between $175,000-$225,000. Actual base pay may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, subject matter expertise, geographic location where work will be performed, and the applicant's skill set. The base pay is just one component of the total compensation package. Other rewards may include an annual cash bonus and a comprehensive benefits package, including but not limited to medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and 401(k). Please note that the job title is subject to change based on the selected candidate's experience and education.
