Join Our Growing Team & Make a Difference at Park Veterinary Hospital
Location: Durham, NC
Schedule: Full Time (10-hour shifts, rotating weekends) or Part Time (Fri-Sun or Sat-Mon) | Open 7 days/week
Pay Range: $26.00-$30.00 dependent on experience
At Park Veterinary Hospital, we're proud to provide advanced medical, surgical, and urgent care services in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Our busy 8-doctor hospital is continuing to grow, and we're looking for a skilled Registered Veterinary Technician with a strong interest in surgery and anesthesia to join our team.
This role is ideal for an RVT who enjoys being in the surgical suite but also values variety in their day - supporting patient care throughout the hospital while helping maintain smooth clinical operations.
Why You'll Love Working Here
Advanced Surgical Exposure: Be hands-on in a high-volume surgical environment with opportunities to sharpen anesthesia and procedural skills.
Collaborative Team Culture: Work alongside experienced doctors and technicians who genuinely support one another.
Growth-Focused Environment: Continuing education, mentorship, and skill development are encouraged and supported.
Variety in Your Day: While surgery is a primary focus, you'll also assist with treatments, patient care, triage, and technician appointments.
Patient-Centered Care: We combine high-quality medicine with compassion and client education.
What You'll Be Doing
Surgical & Anesthesia Responsibilities
  • Prepare surgical suites, instruments, and patients for procedures
  • Assist with surgical induction, intubation, anesthesia setup, and monitoring
  • Monitor anesthesia throughout procedures and oversee patient recovery
  • Maintain accurate anesthesia and surgical records
  • Ensure surgical equipment is properly maintained and stocked
Clinical RVT Duties
  • Assist doctors with appointments, treatments, diagnostics, and hospitalized patient care
  • Perform venipuncture, catheter placement, laboratory sample collection, and radiographs
  • Support triage and urgent care workflow as needed
  • Accurately document treatments, patient updates, and medical notes
  • Safely restrain and handle patients with compassion and confidence
  • Educate clients on post-op care, medications, and treatment plans
  • Help maintain a clean, efficient, team-oriented hospital environment
What We're Looking For
  • Current RVT license in North Carolina
  • 1-3 years of hands-on technician experience preferred
  • Strong interest and confidence in surgery and anesthesia monitoring
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced hospital setting with rotating weekends
  • Strong communication skills and ability to thrive within a collaborative team
  • Detail-oriented, dependable, and eager to continue learning
  • Bonus points for Fear-Free certification and advanced anesthesia or surgical CE
Benefits & Perks
  • Competitive pay + Monthly Bonus Opportunities
  • Health, dental, vision, and mental health support (24/7 access)
  • Generous PTO, paid parental leave, and holiday pay
  • Annual scrub allowance
  • Free RACE-approved CE platform with technician-focused content
  • 401(k) with employer match
  • Personal pet care discounts + Pet Insurance Discounts
  • One-on-one mentorship and training opportunities
  • Positive, supportive, team-focused culture

Ready for Your Next Step?
If you're an RVT who loves surgery, values teamwork, and wants to continue growing your technical skills in a supportive environment, we'd love to connect with you and tell you more about life at Park Veterinary Hospital.
