Job description

GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITY: Perform routine laboratory support tasks including washing of hair samples, sample handling and organization, instrument maintenance, and general laboratory assistant duties to support Hair Lab operations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Wash and prepare hair samples according to established procedures.
• Sort, organize, and store incoming and processed hair samples in accordance with laboratory protocols.
• Maintain accurate tracking and labeling of samples to ensure proper identification and chain of custody.
• Perform daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance on laboratory instruments and equipment.
• Assist with basic troubleshooting and report instrument or process issues to leadership.
• Support laboratory workflow by preparing materials and supplies needed for testing.
• Assist in monitoring and maintaining inventory of laboratory supplies.
• Perform general laboratory aide duties, including cleaning work areas and washing laboratory glassware or tools as needed.
• Unpack, stock, and organize laboratory supplies and reagents.
• Comply with all company, departmental, and regulatory SOPs, including safety and OSHA requirements.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Communicate effectively with team members and leadership regarding workflow or issues.
• Maintain confidentiality of all company and client information.
Perform other duties as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: Associate's degree in clinical laboratory, chemical, biological science or equivalent experience.
EXPERIENCE: Highschool diploma and 6 months of pertinent laboratory experience or an Associates degree in a relevant scientific field.
SKILLS & ABILITIES:
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to follow detailed procedures and instructions
• Basic mechanical aptitude for instrument maintenance tasks
• Good communication skills
• Ability to manage time and prioritize tasks
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment
• Reliable attendance and punctuality
