General Description
This position is responsible for assisting with the overall daily operation of the Public Market including special events and Market rentals. General supervision is received from the Supervisor of Markets. This position assists the supervisor in directing the operation, cleaning and maintenance of the Rochester Public Market buildings, grounds and equipment. Incumbents in this position perform a variety of duties associated with enforcing rules, regulations and ordinances governing the use and operation of market facilities. Related work is performed as required.

CITY RESIDENCY WILL BE REQUIRED WITHIN ONE YEAR OF HIRE.
Typical Work Activities
  • Assists the Supervisor of Markets with the operation of the Public Market;
  • Assists with oversight of the International Plaza;
  • Assists with oversight of the Market site maintenance, including making suggestions and planning for capital projects;
  • Assists with planning special events and promotions;
  • Interacts with a variety of organizations and individuals in planning for events and other usage of the Market site;
  • Assigns and coordinates the work of maintenance staff and contracted security staff;
  • Enforces Market rules, regulations, and procedures;
  • Acts as an arbitrator in settling disputes between buyers and sellers as necessary;
  • Collects fees for rental or lease of market stalls;
  • Enters data pertaining to stall licenses, utilization, and fees into the Market software program;
  • Deposits monies collected in Market bank account;
  • Works with diverse populations in the local community;
  • Operates Market in absence of supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma or Equivalent PLUS:
I. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business Management, Event Management, or a related field PLUS One (1) year of experience (full-time or part-time equivalent) planning and executing events and managing multiple priorities
OR
II. Associate's Degree in Business Management, Event Management, or a related field PLUS Three (3) years of experience (full-time or part-time equivalent) planning and executing events and managing multiple priorities
OR
III. Five (5) years of experience (full-time or part-time equivalent) planning and executing events and managing multiple priorities.
