Job description

Are you called to serve Christ and others?

Do you believe God transforms lives?

Do you steward the resources God provides with wisdom?

Are you a team player?

Do you care for people, knowing all are made in the image of God?

If you answered "yes" to all those questions, then maybe God is calling you to join the staff at The City Mission!

For 115 years, God has been using the Mission to reach hearts and change lives. It starts with emergency shelter for men, women and children experiencing homelessness - but that is just the beginning. While with us, residents participate in holistic, gospel-centered services that include chapel, case management, group counseling, workforce development and job training.

In short, our staff are City Missionaries offering help and hope to all people through the transforming power of God's love.

Right now, we are looking to add aFood Service Supervisor to our team at our Laura's Home campus. This position reports to the Laura's Home Operations Manager and is responsible for all kitchen and food service operations. This is a full-time position, with rotating shifts/hours expected as we provide 3 meals per day for 150+ residents, 365 days per year.

This role provides leadership and oversight to kitchen staff, community volunteers and clients in our workforce development program. This is a "working manager" role including menu development, budgeting, inventory management, ordering, scheduling and training to provide nutritious and tasty meals to the women and children we serve in a safe and sanitary manner.

If you are passionate about using your culinary skills to support a life changing program for women and children and want your work to have lasting purpose and impact, this might be the job for you!

We are looking for someone with the following qualifications:

  • 7+ years professional cooking experience (institutional setting preferred)
  • 3 years kitchen management/leadership, including staff training and development
  • ServSafe or equivalent certification (required)
  • Kitchen inventory and ordering experience
  • Budgeting and food costing
  • Menu development

Before clicking "apply," here's the fine print: Ministry work is challenging. Serving people is challenging. And as each staff member is a minister of the gospel, we have high standards for personal conduct and hold sincerely to our statement of faith.

If you're "just looking for another restaurant job," this isn't it. But if you're being called to urban Missionary work, apply today to be our next Food Service Supervisor!

*Applications will only be accepted through The City Mission website (www.thecitymission.org/careers)*
