Job description

Position Title: Maintenance Technician
Reporting to: Maintenance Manager
Department: Production

JOB SUMMARY
A Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing routine and preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems within a facility, ensuring equipment operates efficiently and safely by identifying issues, ordering necessary parts, and completing repairs in a timely manner; often including emergency response to urgent breakdowns.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Preventative maintenance
  • Regularly inspecting and servicing equipment according to scheduled maintenance plans, including lubrication, cleaning, and component replacements
  • Troubleshooting and repair
  • Diagnosing malfunctions in equipment, identifying root causes, and performing repairs to restore functionality
  • Emergency response
  • Responding to urgent equipment failures outside of regular working hours to minimize downtime
  • Parts management
  • Maintaining inventory of common replacement parts and ordering new parts as needed
  • Documentation
  • Keeping detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment conditions
  • Safety compliance
  • Adhering to safety procedures and regulations when performing maintenance

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Proficiency in mechanical, electrical, plumbing and HVAC systems
  • Troubleshooting skills: Ability to diagnose equipment issues and identify solutions effectively
  • Hand tools proficiency: Skillful use of various hand tools and power tools
  • Basic computer skills: Familiarity with maintenance management software (CMMS) to log work orders and track equipment history
  • Problem-solving abilities: Capability to analyze situations, identify root causes and implement solutions
  • Physical ability: Ability to lift heavy objects, climb ladders and work in confined spaces
  • Forklift certified (will train and certify)
  • Welding, Fabrication and some electrical experience preferred

WORK CONDITIONS
Physical Demands/Work Environment:
This position regularly requires walking, standing, sitting, stooping, bending, kneeling and climbing stairs. It also often requires pushing, pulling, twisting, lifting 50+ lbs. and working in a variety of weather conditions and noise levels.
