We are seeking a Steward to join our Culinary team. This position plays a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and organized kitchen while supporting our restaurant, banquet, and food and beverage operations. The Steward helps ensure our culinary team has the tools and environment needed to deliver exceptional dining experiences.
Position Summary
The Steward is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation throughout the kitchen and food service areas, including washing dishes, cookware, glassware, utensils, and kitchen equipment. This position also assists with general cleaning, waste removal, light food preparation, and stocking while ensuring compliance with all food safety and sanitation standards. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, and takes pride in maintaining a clean and efficient work environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Wash, sanitize, and properly store dishes, glassware, flatware, cookware, and kitchen utensils.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout the kitchen, dish room, storage areas, service stations, and other back-of-house spaces.
• Assist with light food preparation tasks as directed by culinary leadership.
• Remove trash, cardboard, and recycling while following proper disposal procedures.
• Sweep, mop, and sanitize kitchen floors and work areas throughout each shift.
• Clean and maintain kitchen equipment in accordance with established sanitation standards.
• Restock cleaning supplies, chemicals, and kitchen service items as needed.
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures, including proper handling of cleaning chemicals.
• Support the Culinary and Food & Beverage teams to ensure efficient daily operations and successful banquet and restaurant service.
• Assist with banquet setup, breakdown, and special event support as business needs require.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required:
• Previous dishwashing, stewarding, janitorial, or food service experience is preferred but not required.
• Strong work ethic and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Preferred:
• Experience working in a hotel, restaurant, banquet, or commercial kitchen environment.
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation procedures.
• Marriott brand experience.
Schedule Requirements
• Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events as business needs require.
• Regular attendance and punctuality are essential functions of the position.
• The hotel operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
