Location:HYBRID - Nashville, TN 37243
Pay Rate:$27.00 (W2 only) or $30.00 (INCORPORATED), (No 1099 or C2C)
This role is 100% ONSITE, no remote work offered (LOCAL CANDIDATES ONLY!!, We are NOT accepting candidates willing to relocate)
HOURS: M-F 8AM to 4:305 PM
The Web Accessibility Consultant will support the Department of Children s Services (DCS) in remediating its website and digital content to achieve compliance with federally mandated digital accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1). This role will be responsible for identifying accessibility issues, developing and implementing remediation strategies, and ensuring accessibility is integrated into the Department s ongoing processes.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
• Conduct thorough audits of the DCS website, web applications, and other digital content to identify accessibility issues.
• Document accessibility issues clearly and provide practical, standards-based remediation recommendations.
• Work collaboratively with developers, designers, communications staff, and stakeholders to ensure accessibility is built into design and publishing workflows.
• Provide training and guidance to DCS staff on accessibility best practices to support long-term compliance.
REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
• Strong understanding of accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1).
• Proficiency in web technologies such as HTML, CSS, and ARIA roles.
• Ability to develop and implement solutions to accessibility issues, including remediation of documents and web content.
• Experience in web development, digital content remediation, or user experience design.
• Familiarity with accessibility testing tools (e.g., WAVE, SiteImprove) and assistive technologies (e.g., screen readers such as NVDA).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document issues and train non-technical staff.
