Position Overview

Breakthrough Healthcare Wellness is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) to join our team on a full-time basis. This remote position offers the flexibility to work from home while providing essential mental health support to clients with mood disorders. Candidates will play a vital role in helping individuals and families navigate their emotional challenges and achieve a greater sense of well-being.

About the Organization

Breakthrough Healthcare Wellness is a leading provider of comprehensive mental health services located in Islip, New York. Our mission is to foster positive health outcomes through patient-centered care. We are committed to making a tangible difference in the lives of individuals by offering tailored therapeutic interventions and fostering a supportive environment for personal growth and recovery. As a team, we celebrate diversity and are dedicated to upholding the highest standards of clinical excellence.

Work Environment

This position is primarily remote, allowing therapists the flexibility to conduct therapy sessions from their home office while utilizing our outpatient clinic's resources for guidance and support. Our supportive infrastructure includes access to online resources, collaborative virtual team meetings, and opportunities for professional development. You will be part of a collegial team that values mental health advocacy and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough evaluations of clients to assess the intensity, frequency, and duration of their mood disorder symptoms, ensuring a clear understanding of their needs and challenges.

  • Collaborate closely with clients to create personalized treatment plans that reflect their unique goals, preferences, and life situations.

  • Implement evidence-based therapeutic techniques, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), to promote effective coping strategies and symptom management.

  • Provide education and support to clients and their families regarding mood disorders, available treatment options, and essential self-care practices to foster resilience and recovery.

  • Regularly monitor client progress, documenting changes in symptoms and modifying treatment plans as necessary to ensure optimal outcomes.

  • Engage in collaborative discussions with psychiatrists and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive and integrated care for all clients.

  • Stay informed about the latest developments in mood disorder research and treatment methodologies to enhance therapeutic strategies and client care.

  • Adhere to ethical guidelines and legal standards while maintaining accurate and confidential client documentation.

  • Participate in ongoing case consultations, team meetings, and professional development sessions to hone skills and share best practices.

  • Advocate for clients' mental health needs, working to reduce stigma and promote a supportive community environment.

Patient Population / Client Focus

The primary focus of your work will be with clients experiencing mood disorders—anxiety, depression, and related issues—in varying degrees of severity. You will be supporting individuals from diverse backgrounds, acknowledging unique cultural and life experiences that shape their mental health narratives. Our approach prioritizes individual therapy but embraces family involvement wherever appropriate, recognizing the impact of systemic relationships on mental well-being.

Qualifications
  • Must possess a current and active state license as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT).

  • A Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy or a closely related field.

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to foster strong therapeutic relationships with clients.

  • Demonstrated empathy and a nonjudgmental attitude towards clients' experiences and struggles.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills to effectively manage caseloads and administrative tasks.

Preferred Experience
  • Experience with evidence-based practices for treating mood disorders.

  • A background in family therapy and knowledge of systemic therapy approaches is highly desirable.

  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems for documentation and client tracking.

Compensation and Benefits
  • Competitive annual salary ranging from $90,000 to $100,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience.

  • Comprehensive benefits package including paid time off, a retirement plan, health insurance, and professional liability coverage.

  • Opportunities for continuing education and professional development in addiction counseling and related fields.

  • A collaborative work environment where mentorship and guidance are readily available.

  • The chance to make a significant impact on clients' lives, aiding in their long-term recovery and improving community mental health.

  • Access to current resources and research relating to mental health and substance abuse treatment.
