  • Role Overview:
    Blue Nile is seeking a Director of Strategic Merchandising to drive key business strategies through data insights, cross-functional collaboration and leadership. In this role, you will focus on pricing optimization and margin improvement as well as portfolio evolution strategies to maximize growth opportunities while fostering collaboration across teams and managing direct reports. The ideal candidate will excel at combining advanced analytical capabilities with strong interpersonal and communication skills. This role blends commercial and analytic rigor with editorial sensibility curating a digital experience that drives revenue while preserving exclusivity and emotional resonance.
    Responsibilities:
    Assortment Optimization:
    • Lead the development and execution of data-driven merchandising strategies to drive revenue and portfolio evolution aligned with brand vision.
    • Analyze SKU and collection level performance to provide business insights while identifying opportunities to optimize depth, breath and mix
    • Develop and execute launch strategies for new collections
    • Evaluate product lifecycle performance and assortment mix
    • Stay informed on competitor strategies, market conditions and industry trends to proactively adjust strategies and inform new product
    • Partner with Finance and Planning teams to forecast demand and plan assortments
    • Translate analytics into clear, actionable insights for leadership
    • Develop dashboards and reporting tools to track performance in real time

    Site Merchandising:
    • Partner with Creative and Tech teams to deliver a curated product experience
    • Curate online assortments to balance newness, core sellers and high value
    • Drive product storytelling through product placement, sort and curation
    • Analytic rigor to drive SKU/collection exposure decisions in partnership with Performance Marketing team.

    Requirements
    • Bachelor's degree in business, Economics, Analytics, Marketing or a related field
    • 8-12+ years' experience in merchandising, analytics or a related role preferably within e-commerce
    • Strategic mindset with a focus on translating complex data into actionable business strategies
    • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with shifting priorities
    • Proven expertise in pricing strategy, margin analysis, and product mix optimization
    • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with proficiency in tools such as Excel, SQL, Tableau or similar platforms
    • Exceptional leadership skills with experience managing and developing high-performing teams
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across department.

    Annual base pay: $180,000 - $200,000. Final pay rate shall be determined and is based on experience and qualifications.
