Job Title
Field Service Technician
Rotating two week schedule: Tuesday-Friday 7:00am-5:00pm - on call every 4 weeks.
Position Overview
The Field Service Technician effectively and properly maintains fleet, building infrastructure and mechanical equipment for The Blood Connection's divisional donor centers and mobile staging sites. This position assists the efficiency and effectiveness of The Blood Connection by assuring the fleet, building infrastructures and equipment are in proper working order. This position effectively maintains inventory of supplies and operates in a neat, organized manner.
Essential Functions
Fleet Vehicles:
  • Assists with tracking and documentation of fleet maintenance
  • Performs mechanical and operational repairs, services as qualified, and schedules mechanical services when needed locally and in remote mobile staging locations
  • Responds to emergency work orders as necessary to ensure vehicles are functional for blood drives
  • Communicates with operational staff and coordinates repairs as needed

Buildings:
  • Assists with building maintenance at all remote sites, and when qualified performs necessary repairs
  • Assists with maintaining the interior and exterior building appearance
  • Responds to work orders as necessary to ensure buildings are operational for accepting blood donors

Operational Equipment:
    • Assists operational staff in scheduling of maintenance work, and when qualified performs certain maintenance procedures
    • Assists operational staff in the record keeping of such maintenance when required
    • Assists with special projects as required

Miscellaneous:
    • Adheres to all safety policies and procedures
    • Other duties as assigned or required

Minimum Qualifications
  • Technical/Vocational School for Fleet (Automotive and Truck) service and repair OR 5 years of related experience with the disciplines described above
  • Bus maintenance experience a plus
  • 3 plus years of related experience preferred
  • CDL License with no major infractions and dependable transportation
  • Ability to travel and work according to a changing schedule
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Ability to read and follow written and/or verbal instructions
  • Ability to communicate effectively, tactfully, and courteously to patrons, donors, sponsors and co-workers
  • Ability to work with all levels and in a diverse work environment
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, management, and peers
