Job description

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
The employee must be able to perform the essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodations. Except as specifically noted, the following functions are considered essential to this position.
  • Gives medications and provides treatments according to physician's orders and in accordance with facility policy.
  • Required to give shift report on status of residents, verify MAR completion, complete narcotic count during each shift change.
  • Complete all required documentation in each resident's record.
  • Responsible for notifying pharmacy and/or family of resident's medication that needs to be refilled.
  • Responsible for stocking medication on medication cart.
  • Stay in compliance with resident's rights.
  • Responsible for maintaining a clean and organized medication cart and medication room.
  • May be required to assist residents with personal hygiene and other daily tasks.
  • May be required to assist with psychosocial group and/or activities.
  • May be required to pass ice/juice to residents as needed.
  • Monitor compliance to all State and Federal requirements, including but not limited to, blood borne pathogens, hazardous materials, infection control, and fire safety.
  • Responsible for the completion of resident menus for daily meals and assist the resident or other staff members at meal times.
  • Review all physician notes/orders as residents return from appointments.
  • Complete monthly vital signs and weight flow-sheets.
  • Complete daily glucometer checks and control logs.
  • Complete blood sugar checks per MD order.
  • Complete monthly MAR check/review for MD signature.
  • Responsible for completing of admission packet for each resident on admission to their assisting living unit.
  • Responsible for completion of care plans and care plan review on admission and every six months.
  • Assist with level of care reviews with Director.
  • Responsible for completion of resident's assessment upon admission.
  • Med tech's are required to give at least a 30 day notice before leaving Bethea
