Azure Counseling Services is seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and licensed mental health professional to fill the role of Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), specializing in geriatric care. This full-time position offers the unique opportunity to work remotely while providing essential mental health support to our elderly clients. Work Environment

This position is fully remote, allowing for a flexible work-life balance while maintaining professional support for our clients. The typical work schedule is from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Though you will primarily work from home, you will be part of a vibrant team that regularly meets through virtual platforms to discuss cases, share insights, and enhance collaborative care approaches for our elderly clientele.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments for senior clients to identify their specific emotional and psychological needs.
• Provide individual and group counseling sessions that facilitate discussions on emotional challenges related to aging, grief, and life transitions.
• Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to develop and implement holistic care plans tailored to the unique requirements of geriatric residents.
• Educate caregivers, families, and staff on effective strategies to enhance the emotional well-being and quality of life for elderly individuals.
• Deliver grief and loss counseling to support clients and their families during end-of-life issues and significant transitions.
• Design and implement cognitive stimulation programs and therapeutic interventions aimed at promoting mental acuity and psychological resilience in older adults.

Patient Population / Client Focus

The primary focus of this role is the geriatric population, specifically elderly individuals facing mental health challenges due to loss, adjustment issues, or chronic health conditions. You will work closely with seniors who often navigate complex emotional landscapes, requiring both clinical expertise and empathetic support to foster their mental well-being.

Qualifications

• A Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from an accredited institution.
• Current and valid Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) certification in New York State.
• A minimum of four years of relevant experience working within geriatric mental health support or similar fields.
• Specialization or added training in geriatric mental health and aging-related therapeutic approaches.
• Proven experience delivering counseling services that address a broad spectrum of psychological challenges faced by elderly individuals.

Preferred Experience

• Solid understanding of evidence-based interventions tailored to promoting emotional well-being in older adults, including cognitive behavioral therapy and other therapeutic modalities.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish rapport and trust with elderly clients and their families.
• Demonstrated empathy and cultural sensitivity, crucial for effective engagement with diverse senior populations.
• Strong capability to conduct thorough assessments and develop personalized treatment plans that are client-centered and outcome-focused.
• Deep knowledge of ethical and legal considerations relevant to geriatric mental health counseling.

Compensation and Benefits

The estimated salary for this position ranges from $65,000 to $95,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Additionally, new recruits may be eligible for a sign-on bonus, boosting your initial compensation package.
