Job Title: Security Technician III – CCTV & Access Control

Location: Alpharetta, GA

Department: Security / Installation

Employment Type: Full-Time


Position Summary

ASD is seeking an experienced Security Technician III for our Alpharetta, GA office. Working under limited supervision, the Security Technician III possesses complete technical competence across all security and Access Control Systems (ACS). You will be responsible for the programming, commissioning, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance of security systems per contract obligations. As a Level III technician, you possess the ability to resolve—or guide others through—highly complex problem resolutions, and will provide detailed information to communicate designs to customers, installation or service teams, and subcontractors.


Key Responsibilities

Technical & Project Execution

  • Program, commission, troubleshoot, and perform preventive maintenance of security and ACS systems.

  • Perform a variety of tests to determine whether products function as specified; determine the cause of product failure and analyze test results.

  • Review job files, including layout drawings, specifications, and other technical data for efficient inspection.

  • Review material and equipment lists for installation and service repairs. Document and report any material discrepancies.

  • Complete all assigned tasks within the specified cost budget and schedule, taking personal responsibility for the quality of work performed.

  • Assist with the completion of all in-house assembly, test, and checkout tasks as required.

  • Assist engineering and sales by providing technical recommendations to produce job layouts and bid proposals.

  • Perform site-specific training for owners and operators on the total system.


Leadership & Problem Solving

  • Serve as a technical resource for the Security Team.

  • Mentor other Security Technicians on tools and technology.

  • Assist sales in the development of cost estimates on complex projects.

  • Solve technical challenges proactively to resolve potential problems before they negatively impact the customer or the company.


Administrative & Inventory Control

  • Maintain accurate inventory records and remain accountable for all parts, materials, equipment, tools, and supplies released to your custody.

  • Obtain advance authorization for all purchases above those outlined in the approved materials list or job cost records.

  • Accurately complete all required documentation (timesheets, service acknowledgments, quotes, inventory transfer sheets, inspection certificates) and forward them to the office promptly.


Communication & Customer Relations

  • Assist with maintaining long-term customer relationships based on dependability, honesty, and value-added services.

  • Ensure smooth communication and rapport between the customer, on-site personnel, and company personnel.

  • Keep the Project Manager aware of the status of the job's performance needs on a regular basis and in a timely manner.

  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending assigned manufacturer training, seminars, and conferences.


Qualifications & Requirements
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED required. Technical College Training is highly preferred.

  • Experience: 5+ years of experience installing commercial security systems.

  • Knowledge: Must possess a thorough understanding of access control, CCTV, and Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) via on-the-job training, online training, and/or individual research.

  • Certifications: Successful completion of basic access control, CCTV, and Intrusion Detection Systems manufacturer training.

  • Driving Record: Must have a valid driver’s license and a good driving record.

  • Work Environment:

    • Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment.

    • Ability to travel as required.

    • Must be in full compliance with company and customer safety programs.

    • Ability to report to work during customary or assigned working hours and adhere to workplace rules.
