Atmos Energy is seeking a strategic and collaborative Manager, Business Solutions to serve as a key partner between our business organizations and Information Technology teams. As a key leader in our corporate IT organization, you will help shape how technology enables business success at Atmos.
The ideal candidate combines strong business acumen, a process centric way of thinking, technology leadership, excellent oral and written ability and intentional relationship management skills. You'll lead a small team of business solutions professionals while partnering closely with leaders across the enterprise to drive innovation, support organizational change, and maximize the value of technology investments
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Technology, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Seven or more years of experience in business solutions, business systems, information technology, or related disciplines.
  • Experience partnering with business stakeholders to translate business needs into technology solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence decision-making across multiple levels of an organization.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience leading business application and enterprise technology initiatives.
  • Project or program management experience.
  • Experience with technology strategy, business architecture, process improvement, or digital transformation initiatives.
  • Knowledge of utility operations or regulated business environments is a plus.

Primary Duties
1. Facilitates ongoing communication, reporting and strategic planning with business stakeholders. Partners with leaders across the enterprise to assure that technology solutions are designed in accordance with business requirements. Maintains an awareness of existing and upcoming needs. Assures application effectiveness is monitored and re-evaluated over time. Assists to ensure technology investments remain aligned with business goals, priorities and operating plans.
2. Assists with mapping technology capabilities to business capabilities. Assists with development of business application architectures. Identifies and elevates opportunities for introducing or enhancing technology in response to evolving business needs and in support of the end-user. Networks with vendors and other external resources to assure programs are keeping pace with new technological developments and incorporating industry best practices.
3. Assists in evaluation of emerging technologies, platforms and tools. Facilitates solution evaluations through RFPs, vendor selections and fit-gap analysis
4. Creates documentation, process models, and presentations for responsible areas and leadership to facilitate the understanding of application functionality. Supports organizational change management and system adoption activities. Collaborates with Stakeholders to identify system and process improvements to enhance business effectiveness and user experience. Identifies and analyzes risks related to work activities to assure risk responses are implemented when a positive or negative event occurs.
5. Supports subject matter experts and IT staff in resolving application issues and recommending solution design alternatives for product enhancements. Reviews the application roadmap, evaluates product release functionality, and researches industry trends and best practices to determine the feasibility of installations, upgrades, and replacements.
6. Maintains visibility into demand and works with key stakeholders to assess and prioritize technology requests. Provides project leadership. Works with users to define and document goals and technology requirements. Assists in identifying, evaluating, and developing IT system needs, resources, and procedures to meet project requirements. Assures that the objectives are communicated clearly to users and developers. Investigates and resolves discrepancies timely. May act in place of a project manager for
7. Develops and monitors functional area budgets to assure efficient utilization of resources. Plans and directs the achievement of area goals and objectives within established Company policies.
8. Maintains adequate staffing levels to assure proper administration of activities. Selects, develops, motivates and evaluates the performance of assigned employees. Manages, coaches, and mentors team members; provides specific, timely, and constructive performance feedback.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE LEVEL:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Technology or a related field and seven years of related experience; or equivalent.
Project Management background preferred.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS:
Requires the ability to communicate, persuade and/or influence internal and/or external customers at a high level such as senior management on matters of a technical and/or complex nature.
NUMERIC SKILLS:
Requires the ability to perform analyses involving ratios, percentages and simple statistical methods.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
Requires working knowledge of various software applications to create documents, reports and/or graphics.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Requires occasionally performing activities including, but not limited to, bending, stooping, grasping, reaching, twisting, turning and/or lifting.
WORK CONDITIONS:
Works in an office environment.
