Job description

Position Summary

Armanino Foods is seeking an experienced Production Supervisor to provide frontline leadership for second-shift manufacturing operations at our Hayward facility.

This is a hands-on, hourly/non-exempt leadership role responsible for coordinating and executing the daily production schedule while maintaining strong standards for safety, food safety, quality, productivity, and employee performance.

The Production Supervisor spends significant time on the manufacturing floor directing the work of hourly production employees, deploying labor, monitoring production performance, responding to operational issues, coaching employees, and coordinating with Quality, Maintenance, Warehouse, Sanitation, and other support functions.

The ideal candidate is an experienced manufacturing supervisor who is comfortable leading from the floor and has demonstrated success improving safety, productivity, labor efficiency, yield, schedule attainment, and team performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct and coordinate second-shift production activities to meet the daily production schedule.
  • Assign employees and deploy labor based on production priorities, staffing, equipment availability, and operational needs.
  • Maintain a visible leadership presence on the production floor throughout the shift.
  • Monitor production performance, including schedule attainment, throughput, yield, waste, downtime, and labor efficiency.
  • Identify production issues and coordinate appropriate resources to minimize disruption and restore operations.
  • Ensure employees follow GMPs, safety procedures, food safety standards, PPE requirements, and company policies.
  • Provide employees with ongoing coaching, training, direction, and performance feedback.
  • Document and escalate employee attendance, conduct, and performance concerns in accordance with company procedures.
  • Support corrective action and performance-management processes in partnership with Operations leadership and Human Resources.
  • Coordinate with Quality Assurance regarding product quality, food safety concerns, deviations, holds, and corrective actions.
  • Coordinate with Maintenance regarding equipment issues, repairs, and production priorities.
  • Partner with Warehouse and Material Handling teams to ensure required ingredients, packaging, and materials are available for production.
  • Support effective shift start-up, changeovers, shutdown, sanitation coordination, and shift-to-shift handoffs.
  • Complete required production reports, documentation, and shift communications accurately and on time.
  • Identify and recommend opportunities to improve productivity, labor utilization, workflow, safety, quality, and overall manufacturing performance.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of manufacturing experience with at least 3 years of direct frontline supervisory experience leading hourly manufacturing employees.
  • Food or beverage manufacturing experience strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience executing production schedules and supervising fast-paced manufacturing operations.
  • Experience directing hourly employees, assigning work, coaching performance, and addressing attendance or performance concerns.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing KPIs including labor efficiency, yield, downtime, waste, throughput, and schedule attainment.
  • Strong understanding of GMP, food safety, workplace safety, and quality requirements.
  • Experience working in an SQF, BRC, HACCP, or comparable regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Strong floor leadership, communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with Quality, Maintenance, Warehouse, Sanitation, and other operational teams.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and manufacturing or production-management systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred, with the ability to communicate effectively with frontline employees in a manufacturing environment.
  • HACCP certification.
  • Lean Manufacturing, 5S, root-cause analysis, or continuous improvement experience.
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Operations, Manufacturing, Food Science, Business, or a related field.

Schedule

This position primarily supports second-shift operations Monday through Friday.

The position is hourly and non-exempt and is eligible for overtime in accordance with applicable California and federal law.

Flexibility to work overtime, limited Saturdays, and adjusted hours based on business and production needs is required.
