Position Overview

Antelope Behavioral Health is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Telehealth Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) to join our team, focusing on providing essential mental health support to senior patients. Work Environment

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough mental health assessments for elderly clients, identifying their specific emotional and psychological needs.
• Deliver both individual and group counseling sessions aimed at fostering resilience and coping strategies for age-related issues.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to develop individualized care plans that address the holistic needs of our geriatric clients.
• Provide education and resources to families and staff about mental health issues and effective strategies to support elderly individuals.
• Facilitate grief and loss counseling for clients and their families managing end-of-life transitions.
• Implement cognitive stimulation interventions and therapeutic activities promoting mental acuity and emotional stability among elderly clients.

Patient Population / Client Focus

Your primary focus will be on seniors, many of whom are experiencing complex emotional challenges related to aging, such as grief from the loss of loved ones, fear of health decline, and issues surrounding life transitions. You will use your expertise to create supportive, trusting environments for clients, helping them navigate these personal challenges through effective counseling techniques.

Qualifications

• A Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling or a related field from an accredited institution.
• A current and valid LMHC license in New York.
• A minimum of four years of clinical experience in geriatric counseling or a related mental health support field.
• Training or additional qualifications specializing in geriatric mental health and issues related to aging.
• A thorough understanding of evidence-based therapeutic interventions tailored for elderly populations.

Preferred Experience

• Experience providing counseling services specifically to older adults, addressing a range of mental health issues including anxiety, depression, and dementia-related conditions.
• Demonstrated ability to conduct comprehensive assessments and design personalized treatment plans based on each patient's unique needs.
• Strong communication, empathy, and interpersonal skills conducive to establishing rapport with elderly clients from diverse backgrounds.
• Knowledge of applicable ethical and legal standards in geriatric counseling.

Compensation and Benefits
