Job Summary
The Compliance Analyst supports the delivery of regulatory compliance, technical consulting, and commercialization services for renewable fuel producers participating in domestic and international low-carbon fuel markets. Working closely with the Director of Renewable Fuels Compliance & Regulatory Advisory, this position plays a key role in executing client engagements, managing regulatory compliance programs, conducting technical and economic analyses, and developing the documentation required to support renewable fuel projects.
The Compliance Analyst serves as both a project manager and technical contributor, helping clients navigate evolving renewable fuel regulations while supporting environmental credit generation, regulatory reporting, pathway registration, and ongoing compliance activities. This role requires a strong combination of analytical skills, project management capabilities, and the ability to translate complex technical and regulatory information into practical business solutions.
Required Skills
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Lead the day-to-day execution of consulting and compliance projects for renewable fuel producers, supporting a diverse portfolio of clients across renewable natural gas (RNG), renewable diesel, sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), hydrogen, renewable electricity, carbon capture utilization and sequestration (CCUS), and other emerging low-carbon technologies. Develop technical analyses, evaluate project feasibility, and coordinate project activities to ensure high-quality deliverables are completed on time and within scope.
Develop and manage ongoing compliance programs for clients participating in renewable fuel regulations, including the U.S. Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS), California Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS), Oregon Clean Fuels Program, Washington Clean Fuel Standard, and other applicable federal, state, and voluntary sustainability programs. Support clients with recurring reporting obligations, regulatory filings, documentation requirements, and compliance monitoring activities.
Serve as a project manager for consulting engagements by coordinating work across multiple technical disciplines, organizing project schedules, managing client communications, and ensuring effective collaboration between engineering, lifecycle assessment, regulatory, training, and other consulting teams. Monitor project milestones, identify risks, and maintain high standards of client service throughout project execution.
Conduct technical, regulatory, financial, and economic analyses that support renewable fuel project development and commercialization. Evaluate production pathways, regulatory eligibility, environmental credit opportunities, and technical feasibility while assisting clients in optimizing project economics and environmental market participation.
Develop and maintain expertise in renewable fuel regulations and emerging policy developments. Continuously monitor changes to federal, state, and international regulations, interpret new requirements, and incorporate regulatory updates into client recommendations and compliance programs.
Prepare technical reports, regulatory documentation, client presentations, and executive summaries that clearly communicate complex technical and regulatory concepts to a variety of audiences. Present findings through meetings, workshops, training sessions, and client briefings while providing ongoing technical support throughout the life of each engagement.
Support the broader consulting organization by collaborating with lifecycle assessment specialists, regulatory affairs professionals, education and training teams, and business development personnel. Contribute technical expertise to proposals, new service development, client workshops, and cross-functional initiatives that expand the firm's renewable fuels advisory capabilities.
