Job description

As an AHA Program Instructor, you will coordinate the classroom aspects of the American Heart Association courses and ensure that all courses are being held according tostandards and guidelines. This position is vital to supporting the day-to-day operations of the Resuscitation SimulationDepartment.

This is a PRN position. A caregiver in this role works7:30am to 4:30pm.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Reserve and organize classrooms and equipment to conduct scheduled classes.
  • Ensure instructors, equipment, classroominstructionand student ratios meet the standards set by the American Heart Association and Cleveland Clinic.
  • Apply adult learning techniques.
  • Adapt and develop training materials.
  • Prepare and adapt lesson plans based on American Heart Association curriculum and principles usingcompetency-basededucation.
  • Instruct and impart information in an interactive participativemannereliciting frequent responses.
  • Select and use audiovisual hardware and software to reinforce learning.
  • Evaluate and document classroom and laboratory reaction and learning of traineesutilizingthe program and state approved formats.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Associate's degree or equivalent licensure education
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN), Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT), Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic (EMTP)or Doctor of Medicine (MD)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and/or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)the American Heart Association (AHA) OR the American Red Cross
  • Four years of experience as a Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)and/or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) provider through the American Heart Association (AHA) OR the American Red Cross
  • Strong delegation, planning,organizationaland teaching skills
  • Ability to gain cooperation, manageconflictanddemonstrateempathy
  • Takes initiative and is self-directed andresult oriented

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Twoyears of experience as an American Heart Associationinstructor in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)or Pediatric Life Support (PALS)OR the American Red Cross

Physical Requirements:

  • A high degree of dexterity to produce documents on a PC.
  • Normal or corrected vision, hearing and speech.
  • Extensive sitting, standing and walking, occasional lifting or carrying up to 25 pounds.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $30.00

Maximum hourly: $30.00
