Job description

AIG Teacher (10 month) JOB DESCRIPTION
Role:The AIG Teacher supports and implements AIG programming for the district. This includes but is not limited to: K-3 nurturing, enrichment and acceleration, screening and identification services, curriculum development, professional development, and best practices for continuous improvement in all grade levels K-12.
Qualifications:
โ€ข Must hold a North Carolina Professional Educator's License
โ€ข Must be endorsed for AIG; If candidate does not hold a state license for AIG, it is understood that they must take and pass the Praxis within 10months of beginning the position.
โ€ข Must have 5 or more years of successful K-12 teaching experience and experience teaching AIG students
โ€ข Master's degree in Teaching, Curriculum & Instruction, or related field preferred
โ€ข Comprehensive knowledge of appropriate academically or intellectually gifted instructional strategies, best practices, trends in elementary, middle and high school.
โ€ข Experience in planning and delivering professional development
โ€ข Exceptional oral and written communication skills
โ€ข Highly organized
โ€ข Has a passion for gifted students and gifted education
โ€ข Experience in data analysis
โ€ข Experience in engaging, building and maintaining positive relationships with parents, students, staff, and community entities
โ€ข Ability to use sensitivity and maintain confidentiality
โ€ข Ability to multi-task and differentiate issues that are time sensitive
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
โ€ข Monitors and implements AIG services in accordance with the AIG plan and district strategic direction
โ€ข Designs and implements activities relating to AIG, including but not limited to the AIGK-3 nurturing, LEEP program, digital badging, enrichment and acceleration programming grades 4-12 for assigned area
โ€ข Implements the screening, referral and identification process associated with the AIG program
โ€ข Utilizes current screening methods and tools outlined in the AIG plan so that underserved students can been screened and served
โ€ข Regularly assist instructional personnel with AIG related services including modeling lessons, co-teaching, and the implementation of best practices
โ€ข Provides K-3 nurturing services weekly in elementary schools
โ€ข Collects and analyzes data relevant to AIG programming
โ€ข Maintains accurate recordkeeping and reporting
โ€ข Actively participates in regular AIG teacher PLCs
โ€ข Reviews educational research related to improving student achievement and promotes research-based best practices for AIG
โ€ข Provides professional development for AIG classroom teachers
โ€ข Collaborate with the Executive Director of Programs, AIG Coordinator, school principals and teachers to design and implement best instructional practices associated with AIG
โ€ข Performs other related duties as assigned
This position is paid monthly on a 10-month teacher scale.
