AIG Teacher (10 month) JOB DESCRIPTION
Role:The AIG Teacher supports and implements AIG programming for the district. This includes but is not limited to: K-3 nurturing, enrichment and acceleration, screening and identification services, curriculum development, professional development, and best practices for continuous improvement in all grade levels K-12.
Qualifications:
โข Must hold a North Carolina Professional Educator's License
โข Must be endorsed for AIG; If candidate does not hold a state license for AIG, it is understood that they must take and pass the Praxis within 10months of beginning the position.
โข Must have 5 or more years of successful K-12 teaching experience and experience teaching AIG students
โข Master's degree in Teaching, Curriculum & Instruction, or related field preferred
โข Comprehensive knowledge of appropriate academically or intellectually gifted instructional strategies, best practices, trends in elementary, middle and high school.
โข Experience in planning and delivering professional development
โข Exceptional oral and written communication skills
โข Highly organized
โข Has a passion for gifted students and gifted education
โข Experience in data analysis
โข Experience in engaging, building and maintaining positive relationships with parents, students, staff, and community entities
โข Ability to use sensitivity and maintain confidentiality
โข Ability to multi-task and differentiate issues that are time sensitive
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
โข Monitors and implements AIG services in accordance with the AIG plan and district strategic direction
โข Designs and implements activities relating to AIG, including but not limited to the AIGK-3 nurturing, LEEP program, digital badging, enrichment and acceleration programming grades 4-12 for assigned area
โข Implements the screening, referral and identification process associated with the AIG program
โข Utilizes current screening methods and tools outlined in the AIG plan so that underserved students can been screened and served
โข Regularly assist instructional personnel with AIG related services including modeling lessons, co-teaching, and the implementation of best practices
โข Provides K-3 nurturing services weekly in elementary schools
โข Collects and analyzes data relevant to AIG programming
โข Maintains accurate recordkeeping and reporting
โข Actively participates in regular AIG teacher PLCs
โข Reviews educational research related to improving student achievement and promotes research-based best practices for AIG
โข Provides professional development for AIG classroom teachers
โข Collaborate with the Executive Director of Programs, AIG Coordinator, school principals and teachers to design and implement best instructional practices associated with AIG
โข Performs other related duties as assigned
This position is paid monthly on a 10-month teacher scale.
