Job Description-:

Summary
The Investment Data Management (IDM) team aligned with Investment Accounting, Operations, and Enterprise Reporting is looking for a Business Analyst with experience in portfolio/investment accounting and database systems. The individual will collaborate with end users and application developers to define business and technical requirements, interact with large datasets and data warehouse technology, and validate data solutions.

The role requires hands-on experience in portfolio accounting systems, SQL, and data warehouse concepts along with a solid understanding of investment accounting. Strong analytical skills, ownership mindset, and excellent communication are key to success.

Primary Functions & Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, liaising with Investment Accounting, Fund Admin, and Reporting teams.
  • Gather, document, and analyze requirements for system projects/enhancements; ensure best-fit solutions while preserving existing application integrity.
  • Work extensively with Portfolio/Investment accounting datasets and reports (primarily sourced from Advent Geneva).
  • Translate business requirements into functional requirements for development teams and support during build activities.
  • Perform analysis and provide support for data warehouse integrations with external/internal systems and vendors.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and operational efficiency.
  • Drive quality control across systems and integrations.
  • Conduct data analysis, debugging, and resolution of business data issues.
  • Perform QA and User Acceptance Testing for system changes and projects.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Accounting, or Finance.
  • MBA and/or CFA certification preferred.

Experience:

  • 9+ years of professional experience, including 5+ years as a Business Analyst.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience with Advent Geneva.
  • Background in asset management firms or fund administrators; experience in alternative asset managers a strong plus.
  • Strong SQL skills and experience handling large datasets.
  • Experience in business-facing roles with key stakeholders.

General Requirements:

  • Hands-on knowledge of Investment/Portfolio accounting systems.
  • Understanding of accounting basics.
  • Data Warehousing experience.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms.
  • Exposure to alternative securities (Loans, CLOs, ABS, MBS, Swaps).
  • Understanding of institutional trading workflows and related technology.
  • Strong organizational, documentation, and communication (verbal/written) skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and perform under pressure in fast-moving environments.
  • Self-directed with a proactive, problem-solving mindset.
