Job description

Accounting Manager

Who We Are

Telaré Law is a personal injury law firm headquartered in Richland, WA, with operations across Washington and Oregon. We're dedicated to fighting for our clients when they need it most — helping them navigate the aftermath of an injury and pursue the compensation they deserve.

As we continue to grow across multiple states, we're building a team that reflects our values: integrity, accountability, and genuine care — both for our clients and for each other. We invest in our people because we know strong internal teams are what make it possible to show up for our clients every day.

Overview

We're seeking a detail-oriented, dependable, and trustworthy Accounting Manager to lead financial operations in our fast-paced legal environment. This is a growth-focused role with hands-on training and mentorship, and a clear path toward expanded financial leadership responsibilities. Our current Senior Accounting Manager is transitioning to part-time over the next 3–6 months and will personally train the incoming Accounting Manager to take on the full scope of the role.

We take pride in cultivating a supportive workplace where professional development and long-term growth are core values. We're looking for someone who learns quickly, applies sound judgment, and takes ownership of financial tasks with accuracy and integrity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and take ownership of core financial processes
  • Maintain and reconcile vendor records, client records, and general ledger accounts
  • Monitor and manage cash flow
  • Oversee and execute month-end close, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
  • Manage accounts payable/receivable and general ledger maintenance
  • Process client settlement payments
  • Reconcile trust accounts to trust funds
  • Maintain mastery of all accounting department processes
  • Monitor business insurance and coordinate renewals with brokers
  • Register with Department of Revenue and Unemployment Divisions in various states as we expand our remote workforce
  • Maintain a complete understanding of payroll; may process payroll directly and will monitor all payroll expense and liability accounts
  • Respond to local, state, and federal government inquiries and ensure all licenses remain current

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Associate degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience); Bachelor's degree preferred
  • College-level accounting coursework required
  • 7–10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including month-end close and financial reporting
  • 2–3+ years in a supervisory or lead accounting role

Technical Skills & Knowledge

  • Solid knowledge of GAAP
  • Experience with accounting, payroll, and financial management systems
  • Familiarity with QuickBooks or similar accounting software
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft Office Suite

Core Competencies

  • Attention to Detail – Precision in data entry, financial record-keeping, and reporting
  • Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills – Identifies discrepancies and resolves financial issues efficiently
  • Organizational Skills – Manages multiple priorities accurately and on deadline
  • Communication – Strong written and verbal skills for internal and external interactions
  • Accountability & Reliability – Owns tasks, meets deadlines, and safeguards sensitive financial data
  • Confidentiality – Upholds the privacy of financial and client information

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background in a law firm or small business setting
  • Prior experience managing or mentoring accounting staff
  • Experience with multi-state payroll and tax registration, given our growing remote workforce
  • Familiarity with trust accounting requirements and client fund handling
  • Experience supporting or working alongside HR on payroll-related compliance matters
  • Exposure to legal billing, case management, or settlement disbursement processes
  • CPA, CMA, or progress toward certification

Compensation: $85,000–$100,000 DOE

Benefits

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance at no cost to the employee
  • Life and AD&D insurance
  • HSA offered, with employer contribution
  • 401(k) with a 4% match
  • Paid time off and paid holidays
  • Ongoing mentorship and hands-on training from our current Senior Accounting Manager during the transition period
  • Clear path for professional growth into expanded financial leadership responsibilities
  • Supportive, team-oriented work environment
