This role also participates in after-hours storm restoration efforts and supports larger system improvement and infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Apply engineering principles, design criteria, and software tools to support power system design and construction.
  • Meet with customers to determine electric service needs and create engineering designs accordingly.
  • Engineer electric distribution service projects including residential, commercial, industrial, and subdivisions.
  • Assist with system reliability projects, routine maintenance, and planned infrastructure improvements.
  • Support estimate preparation, design option development, and construction specification packages.
  • Participate in storm restoration events – after-hours and out-of-area support may be required.
  • Manage multiple active projects, prioritize workload, and take ownership of assigned territory responsibilities.

Required Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university.
  • 0–5 years of engineering-related experience.
  • Prior experience with electrical distribution engineering is preferred but not required.
  • EIT certification is a plus.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Preferred skills and tools (training available for entry-level candidates):

  • Understanding of distribution design, standards, and practices
  • Ability to interpret engineering plans, apply problem-solving skills, and make sound decisions during emergencies
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and set priorities
  • Strong customer-facing communication skills
  • Knowledge of NESC, NEC, OSHA, and company safety standards
  • Ability to travel out of area/state for restoration or emergency assignments
