If ZipRecruiter Won the Lottery…

The Mega Millions lottery jackpot set a world record this week at over $500 million. Employees throughout the country have frantically purchased tickets and set up office lottery pools.

All of this hubbub got me wondering…

What would we do if we won?

Here are some responses from around the office:

“I would buy a shark tank. A room-sized shark tank,” Ian

“If I won the lottery tomorrow morning, I’d settle my siblings’ college & med-school loans and buy my parents a castle on the mouth of the river Göta Älv in Gothenburg. I’d also buy the river just so I can add more dots on top of the remaining letters in its name,” Ken A. (K-Dawg)

“Book a flight to space,” Joe

“If I won the lottery tmrw, I’d obviously continue to work here at ZipRecruiter because I do it out of love. I am lying, but I do love you. I would set up a do-gooder type agency to help others and then travel the world (sending all calls directly to voicemail, forever),” Doug

“I think the important question you have to ask yourself under these circumstances is:  Mountain Hideaway or Underwater Base?  I would go with Underwater Base, complete with a Nautilus submarine (and crew of Jules-Verne-esque eccentrics),” Ingrid

“I thought about obvious things — buying land and house(s), traveling the world, buying/adopting a tiger or lion or both, paying off things way ahead of time, and helping family, etc… But honestly I think it would be cool to buy everyone at ZipRecruiter a lime green Prius…  Saving gas and having a gas efficient vehicle representing ZipRecruiter… Kinda like ZipCar, only better  Or maybe similar idea but electric cars… Actually… Whatever! Let’s just buy jets and fly over all the traffic… ” Jessica

“One: Buy a cruising catamaran. Two: Use ZipRecruiter to find and hire crew members. It’s going to be a big boat, so I’ll probably need the Team Plan. Three: Sail the Caribbean, promoting ZipRecruiter along the way (ZipRecruiter is available in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, after all). Four: Repeat step three — in Hawaii,” Me

“I would buy a huge yacht to live on, and acquire the company that make those seasickness patches,” Ward

“I would fix the crack in my windshield,” Ken W.

Correction: In an earlier edition of this post, we speculated that our CEO, who wasn’t around to answer the question, would become a farmer. We said this because Ian owns chickens (and watches TV with them). We also said he would probably move somewhere in the Midwest (because it’s his favorite place) and ask Gentlemen Square to incorporate overalls and straw hats into their monthly clothing shipments. It turns out that none of this is true (except for the part where Ian watches TV with chickens — that happens).

What would you do if you won the Mega Millions?
