Job description

KSNV in sunny Las Vegas has an immediate opening for Weather Forecaster/Reporter. Meteorologists are encouraged to apply but not required for this position. The job will be Saturday/Sunday weather with 3 weekdays focuses on general assignment reporting. The successful candidate will also fill-in for other station meteorologists on other shifts. Being a social media dynamo is also a major plus. You will work closely with producers and managers to tell the weather story of the day and track the next weather maker.ย 

Some additional responsibilities will include

  • Daily weathercast creation focused on the day's weather story and the next weather maker
  • Post social weather content in accordance with our digital plan
  • Creating daily weather visuals for all platforms
  • Cultivating story ideas that fit our bucket structure during reporter days
  • Participating in special/extended weather or news coverage
  • Communicating weather events and the daily weather story during content meetings

What skills do you need to be successful in our role?

  • Proven track record of creating compelling and engaging stories across multiple platforms
  • Ability to perform well under pressure, experience managing breaking news and meeting strict deadlines
  • Ability to identity problems and provide solutions
  • A strong commitment to journalistic standards and ethics
  • Extraordinary people skills with an emphasis on coaching and motivating
  • Strong understanding of compelling digital content
  • Minimum of two years as a reporter/weather caster in a television news environment or equivalent
  • Strong writing skills and a proven track record for getting results on initiatives
