Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate, grade, and authenticate diamonds, gemstones, and fine jewelry using industry-standard tools and techniques
  • Provide expert gemological assessments and appraisals for customers and estate pieces
  • Assist customers in selecting jewelry, offering knowledgeable guidance on gemstone quality, cut, color, and clarity
  • Maintain accurate records of gem evaluations, appraisals, and inventory documentation
  • Source and evaluate new gemstone and jewelry inventory in collaboration with buyers
  • Stay current with gemological trends, market values, and industry certifications
  • Support sales staff with product knowledge training and gemstone education
Requirements:
  • Graduate Gemologist (GG) diploma from the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) or equivalent certification preferred
  • Proven experience in gemstone grading, diamond grading, and jewelry appraisal
  • Proficiency with gemological instruments including loupe, microscope, and refractometer
  • Strong knowledge of precious and semi-precious gemstones, metals, and fine jewelry
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Experience in a retail jewelry environment is a plus
