YWCA Tulsa JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title:

Group Fitness Instructor

FLSA Status:

Nonexempt

Reports To:

Fitness Manager

Department:

Health and Wellness

Position Description:

Responsible for providing safe and effective exercise classes which meets the needs of those participating. Availability is Monday through Friday, mornings. Current Zumba license and current CPR certification, with the ability to work mornings and potentially cover evenings when needed. High energy and provide a safe, fun Zumba workout!ย 

Principal Responsibilities and Duties:
  1. Interact with participants, responding to their basic fitness needs.
  2. Instruct participants on proper fitness.
  3. Promote health & wellness through exercise.
  4. Promote the YWCA and its programs to members.
  5. Must be dedicated to promptly attend class, which has been assigned on a consistent basis.
  6. Responsible for finding a replacement/substitute teacher for class(s) when needed.
  7. Have a positive attitude and be a team player.
  8. Enjoy working with people of all ages and abilities.
  9. Maintain certification from an accredited organization (AFAA, ACE, ACSM)
  10. Miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
    • Ability to instruct classes.
    • Ability to communicate with participants and other staff members.
    • Ability to demonstrate safe and proper exercise techniques.
    • Effective oral and physical communication skills, especially as required in demonstrating and instructing participants on safe exercises.
Education/Experience:
    • Teaching experience preferred.
    • Certification from an accredited fitness organization (AFAA, ACE, ACSM)
    • CPR and First Aid Certification.
