Overview

Tyndale is looking for a full time experienced Alterations Technician to join our Embellishments team. In this hands-on role, you’ll use your sewing and alterations expertise to customize and repair specialty garments to meet our customers’ exact specifications and Tyndale’s high standards for quality. From hemming and sleeve alterations to zipper replacements, patches, reflective tape, and other garment repairs, you’ll play an important role in ensuring every garment is customer-ready, accurate, and professionally finished. If you have strong attention to detail, experience with industrial sewing equipment, and take pride in quality craftsmanship, this is a great opportunity to bring your skills to a growing company with opportunities for advancement. 

Our embellishments team works onsite five (5) days a week, M-F in our North Houston, TX distribution center, working 2nd Shift, Monday–Friday, 3:00 p.m.–11:30 p.m.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all phases of sewing and alterations;
  • Verify orders: Check merchandise for the correct size, style, color, etc.;
  • Prep the work according to what alteration is required;
  • Hem/Sew Garments as needed, using overlock and single needle sewing machines or hemming machines.
  • Identify the appropriate components to be used to complete the repairs/customizations;
  • Apply patches, Reflective Tape and sew on garments when necessary.
  • Install snaps utilizing the appropriate equipment.
  • Notify the team Supervisor of any issues that may arise, including garment quality, pick ticket accuracy, etc.
  • Perform other duties and tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma preferred
  • Extensive sewing experience required.
  • Experience in alterations required;
  • Experience & proficiency with industrial sewing equipment required;
  • Excellent Attention to Detail;
  • Ability to read a measuring tape;
  • Familiarity with & competency in using hand tools to remove zippers;
  • Prior use of electric hand tools (fabric cutters) a plus;
  • The sewing skills required include hemming pants to the correct inseam, shortening sleeves, placing zippers in pant legs, and a variety of other sewing operations that involve the customization and repair of garments—replacing broken zippers, patching, re-sewing belt loops, etc.

Expectations include sitting at lengths of time, handling sharp objects such as scissors and sewing needles, and potentially lifting boxes weighing a maximum of 20 lbs or less without assistance.
