Job description

Zamboni Driver

Fishers Event Center has an excellent and immediate opening for a part-time Zamboni Driver. Zamboni Drivers maintain the quality and safety of the ice surface along with resurfacing for preparation for various activities and ensuring a positive experience for guests.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare ice for all practices, games and other ice events. This includes removing debris, checking ice depth, scraping, edging, resurfacing ice and maintenance of spectator netting
  • Operate and maintain the ice re-surface and ice-edger equipment
  • Repair and build ice
  • Drive Zamboni during hockey games maintaining the ice to NHL standards.
  • Must be familiar with techniques for repairing and building ice around hockey goals and other areas that lose ice.
  • Perform general physical labor associated with set up and break down for events i.e. laying turf, installing basketball floor, making ice
  • Maintain locker room areas. Make repairs as directed by the Operations Manager
  • Operate a forklift truck
  • Work effectively under pressure and/or stringent schedule to produce accurate results and meet deadlines
  • May perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience

  • HS diploma/GED preferred.
  • Previous facility operations experience a plus.

Skills and Abilities

  • Mechanical aptitude preferred.
  • Prior experience driving a Zamboni machine helpful.
  • Must have access to reliable transportation.
  • Requires ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends and holidays, in addition to normal business hours.
