Job description

JOB FUNCTION: Perform skilled mechanical maintenance duties in the inspection, repair, installation and alteration of air purification units, heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration systems and related equipment and facilities as well as perform preventive maintenance and routine servicing of equipment. 

 

QUALIFICATION HIGHLIGHTS: 

  • Understand basic electrical theory AC and DC currents, single phase and three phase circuits up to 480 volts. 

  • Knowledge of basic trouble shooting of electrical circuits and the ability to use multi-meters and read current and resistance values. 

  • Must have good communication skills. 

  • *Hold a CONDITONED AIR CONTRACTOR LICENSE FOR THE STATE OF GA*

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • HVAC experience including but not limited to refrigerant controls (metering devices), electric motors (3 phase and 1 phase), motor controls (contractors, starters, relays, disconnects, thermostats, etc.) 

  • Must be able to work well with other Mechanics/Technicians and tradesman 

  • Operate a variety of hand and power tools, welder torch, vacuum pump, and test 

  • equipment utilized in the trade and a motor vehicle; maintain equipment in effective 

  • and safe working condition; maintain parts and tool inventory. 

  • Perform other duties as assigned. 

  • Maintain regular attendance. 

KNOWLEDGE OF

Standard practices of the HVAC and refrigeration trade. 

Theory of HVAC and refrigeration systems. 

Materials, methods, and tools used in the operation and repair of HVAC and 

Refrigeration systems. 

Health and safety regulations. 

Basic record-keeping techniques. 

Proper methods of storing equipment, materials, and supplies.

Physical demands and work environment: 

Physical demands: Employee will be required to adhere to large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting, and lifting. Will talk and hear to communicate. Will use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, pull objects, materials, controls, and tools. Give full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand directions. May be required to lift, carry, and move objects safely. Will occasionally work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, and work off platforms. Will use vision abilities to focus, see short and long distances, colors, depth perception and peripheral vision. Will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs/muffs, masks/respirators, safety vests, gloves, and steel-toe boots. 

Work environment: Will work in all weather conditions ranging from warm/hot - cool/cold. Occasional rain. Will work at different elevations. Noise levels will be moderate to high. Job site will contain light to heavy equipment vehicles, small to large equipment, materials, communication equipment and tools. People standing, walking, sitting, signaling, and talking. Bells, whistles, and alarms.
