Responsibilities vary depending on the role but often involve video production, audience engagement, SEO, and monetization strategies. Many people work as independent creators, while others are employed by companies to manage branded content.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the YouTube position, and why are they important?

To thrive as a YouTube Content Creator, you need skills in video production, content strategy, storytelling, and editing, with no formal degree required but a strong portfolio being advantageous. Familiarity with tools like Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, YouTube Studio, and basic analytics platforms is beneficial. Creativity, adaptability, self-motivation, and strong communication skills set top creators apart. Contractor

Job description

ABOUT PARALLAX

Parallax is building something that doesn't exist yet: a modern communications engine that treats persuasion like infrastructure. We are a high-velocity content operation backed by committed investors, leading advocacy organizations, and a passionate team that has run some of the largest political media operations in history. We produce content at campaign scale - hundreds of videos, millions of impressions, rapid-response storytelling across every platform. We do this in service of fixing American democracy through the actionable lever of election reform.

We are focused on solving the Primary Problem. Closed party primaries disenfranchise millions of voters and disincentivize our leaders from solving problems. Open, all-candidate primaries increase participation, improve representation, and dampen polarization. We are here to win open primaries on the state level in order to enfranchise millions of voters and liberate dozens of members of Congress.

ROLE DESCRIPTION

This is an outcomes-based contractor engagement. Success is measured by what the pod ships, how it

performs, and how reliably the cadence holds:

  • A predictable publishing cadence. Coordinated output from a 3-4 person content team operating on a daily and weekly rhythm, with assignments and deadlines tracked end-to-end.
  • Published content across platforms. Content distributed across TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, X, and Facebook in the right formats, at the right windows, with platform-appropriate captions and metadata.
  • A living content calendar. A 2-4 week forward calendar maintained at all times, with built-in flexibility to absorb rapid-response moments without breaking the underlying plan.
  • Audience intelligence briefs. Regular, data-grounded direction to the creative team on what to make next - based on performance trends, hook patterns, and audience growth signals, not gut.
  • QA on every shipped asset. Final QA on captions, thumbnails, tags, descriptions, and accessibility before publish.
  • Weekly performance readouts. A weekly written readout to leadership translating metrics into narrative: what worked, what didn't, and what's changing as a result.
  • Strike Team field leadership. Deployments to designated states as needed, coordinating end-to-end content production on the ground and delivering a defined package of finished assets per deployment.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

You've spent 3-10 years in content operations, social media, or audience growth. You're the person who

can keep a content team's workflow on cadence while simultaneously knowing which TikTok sound is

trending this morning.

  • You're a systems operator. You've built workflows that scale - Notion boards, Slack cadences, review pipelines - and you know what works.
  • You're platform-native. You don't just manage social accounts - you understand them. You know why a Reel outperforms a carousel and when to go long on YouTube.
  • You're data-driven. Your past work shows decisions made on performance data. You can read a retention curve, explain a CPM, and spot a content trend before it peaks.
  • You work well with creative teams. You've coordinated with creatives before, written clear briefs, and given useful feedback that gets used.
  • You've handled rapid-response cycles. Breaking news drops at 4pm? Your portfolio shows you've reprioritized a week's calendar and gotten content live by morning.
  • You care about the mission. You want your operational skills applied to something that matters beyond engagement metrics.

Benefits

WHY THIS GIG

  • Impact at scale. You'll coordinate the distribution of content that reaches millions of Americans on the most important civic issue of our time.
  • Real ownership. You own the publishing function - scheduling, performance, optimization all run through you. This is a leadership seat.
  • A team that ships. No bureaucratic drag. No 12-person approval chains.
  • It's still early. The playbook you write will define how this operation scales across multiple states.

COMPENSATION

$8,000 / month retainer paid monthly. Contractor is responsible for all applicable taxes, insurance, and

business expenses. No employee benefits provided.

HOW TO APPLY

Send a short note + portfolio or relevant work samples through the application form. If you're the right

person for this role, you'll hear from us within a week.
