The Role and Why It's Important

As a Social Media Strategist at Hy-Vee, you play a leading role in bringing our social media strategy to life and shaping how the brand shows up and connects with customers across multiple platforms. You stay ahead of platform trends, algorithm changes, and emerging best practices, helping evolve our organic social approach as the landscape changes.
You bring fresh thinking to monthly content planning and use performance data, reporting, and audience insights to continuously improve results. In partnership with the Social Media Manager, you develop and manage social media strategies that align with broader marketing priorities while building brand awareness, increasing engagement, and supporting channel growth.

What You'll Do
  • Develop and manage platform-specific social media strategies in partnership with the Social Media Manager, ensuring content aligns with organizational priorities while driving brand awareness, audience engagement, and channel growth.
  • Use reporting and analytics to recommend content optimizations, strategic adjustments, and platform pivots.
  • Develop and oversee the monthly organic paid-amplification strategy, including coordination and communication with agency partners.
  • Manage social media content publishing across multiple platforms, ensuring content is timely, on-brand, accurate, and optimized for each channel.
  • Coordinate creative production requests with cross-functional teams and agency partners, ensuring deliverables are clearly scoped, submitted, reviewed, and completed on schedule.
  • Review partner, creator, and user-generated content on an ongoing basis and proactively identify opportunities to repurpose high-performing content across Hy-Vee's owned social channels.
  • Ideate and recommend monthly content strategies in collaboration with the Social Media Manager across Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest, Threads, YouTube, and X.
  • Collaborate with the Influencer team on holistic organic corporate content strategy.
  • Own organic social media reporting efforts and communicate campaign performance and insights to leadership.
  • Monitor social platform updates and translate relevant changes into team training, education, and updated best practices.
  • Research and champion emerging technology, tools, and software that strengthen the team's social media capabilities and improve efficiency.
  • Stay current on social media trends, competitor activity, platform developments, and industry news, sharing relevant insights and recommendations with the team.
  • Serve as an internal subject matter expert on social platform trends, algorithms, publishing requirements, and best practices.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding advertising, pricing, campaign, and company information.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Advertising, Journalism, Communications, or a related field preferred.
  • 5-7+ years of marketing agency or related work experience.
  • Proven experience in a social media strategy role preferred.
  • Experience with social media management platforms, analytics tools, and content management systems required.
  • Experience with Sprinklr or a comparable enterprise social media management platform strongly preferred.
  • Experience with Meta Business Suite.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
  • Ability to operate standard office technology, including computers and telephones.
  • Ability to review and analyze documents and data on screen.
  • Ability to occasionally transport materials weighing up to 10 pounds (such as files or office supplies).
  • Ability to travel occasionally, including overnight stays, for events or agency meetings.
Working Environment

This position works in a general office setting with possible flexible work arrangements outside of the office. Occasional travel, including overnight stays, may be required. Standard office and marketing technology is used regularly, including PC/Apple (Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Cloud, Google Analytics, social media management platforms, and other related software).
