POSITION SUMMARY: The Youth Counselor is responsible for the safety and positive environment of the children at Royal Palm Yacht & Country Club. He/she will continually strive to enhance their experience and deliver an atmosphere that is consistent with the Club’s mission, vision and core values by performing the following duties:


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensures all areas are set up properly and timely and broken down each day.
  • Responsible for assisting the program staff during activities
  • Assists with all special events such as (but not limited to) Brunch with Santa, Easter Bunny Bash, Halloween, Movie Night, etc…
  • Knows the location of all children while signed into any Kids Club activity or event and maintains all sign in/out sheets.
  • Promotes a positive, healthy and safe environment for the Royal Palm children.
  • Creatively and effectively comes up with new ideas for the Kids’ Club.
  • Participates in all camp activities (golf, tennis, fishing, field games, etc)
  • Follows the Club’s employee dress code policy. Counselor’s uniform includes khaki pants or shorts (fingertip length), Club provided polo or t-shirt and Club provided name tag, worn on the right hand side of the shirt. If an employee has a visible tattoo, it must be covered.

Education / Experience

  • Working toward or has received a high school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Minimum 1 year related experience in a camp setting

Qualifications

  • CPR/AED Certification
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills
  • Works well under pressure and time constraints
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Able to work a varied schedule including nights, weekends and holidays

  • Must be able to lift, push, pull and move up to 25 lbs.
  • Frequent reaching, bending, turning, climbing, squatting, stooping and stretching
  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Normal vision and hearing ranges required
  • Able to work in extreme outside conditions for an extended period of time
