A youth counselor interacts with students and supports their social and educational growth. Many schools use youth counseling programs to help teens deal with personal issues and educational challenges. You can counsel children on school campuses or as an employee with county or state organizations. You may perform assessments on students, provide access to services, and help them set goals and create plans for reaching those goals. If you work for an organization that recruits youth, your duties will involve explaining services and programs that appeal to students.
