SUMMARYย ย 

The Youth Workforce Participant is a temporary position designed to provide students with hands-on work experience, career exposure, and skill development within CTCLUSI departments. Participants will support day-to-day operations while learning workplace expectations, professional skills, and potential career pathways. This role is structured as a short-term placement with defined start and end dates and is intended for educational and workforce development purposes.ย 


*This is a temporary, grant funded position with defined start and end dates. Hours will be based on program structure and assigned departmental needs. Participation in this program does not guarantee future employment with CTCLUSI. This position has a maximum hour limit of 120 hours.ย 


PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:ย 

  • Participates in a structured workforce experience within an assigned CTCLUSI department.ย 
  • Assists with basic tasks and projects as assigned by the supervising department.ย 
  • Learns and follows workplace expectations, including attendance, communication, and professionalism.ย 
  • Observes and supports department functions to gain exposure to career pathways and organizational operations.ย 
  • Completes assigned duties in a timely and responsible manner.ย 
  • Follows all CTCLUSI policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.ย 
  • Participates in required orientation, training, or program activities.ย 
  • Maintains confidentiality of sensitive information in accordance with applicable policies.ย 
  • Communicates with supervisor regarding progress, questions, or concerns.ย 
  • Collaborates efficiently and effectively while consistently demonstrating professionalism and maintaining positive, respectful relationships with internal teams, external partners, and Tribal members.
  • Other duties as directed by management.

LEVEL OF AUTHORITY & RESTRICTIONS

  • Entry-level temporary position with no supervisory responsibilities or decision-making authority.
  • Duties are limited to those appropriate for a training and learning environment.ย 

PHYSICAL & MENTAL DEMANDS

  • Must be able to walk, talk, hear, use hands to handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms.ย 
  • Vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.ย 
  • May be required to push, pull, lift, and/or carry up to 20 pounds.ย 
  • Must be able to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, and climb or balance.
  • Must be able to sit and type for long periods of time dependent upon placement.

WORKING CONDITIONS & ENVIRONMENT

  • Work environment varies based by department and may include office, clinic, field or outdoor settings.ย 
  • May be exposed to moderate noise levels and typical workplace interruptions.ย 
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required depending on department placement.ย 
  • Depending on department, may be occasionally exposed to conditions such as those found in variable weather conditions.ย 


Requirements

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be 14 years of age or older.
  • Currently enrolled in or recently completed a high school or equivalent program.
  • Must be a member of a CTCLUSI household, as defined by the Tribe or the applicable program requirements. Enrollment as a CTCLUSI Tribal member is not required.ย ย 
  • Willingness to learn, take direction, and participate in a structured work experience.ย 
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English, verbally, in writing or by other acceptable means.ย 
  • This position is considered a covered role per the CTCLUSI Background Investigations Policy. A state criminal background check and fingerprint-based background check will be required as a condition of employment.
  • This position is designated as safety-sensitive and is subject to pre-employment and other authorized drug and alcohol testing in accordance with company policy. Please note that the use of marijuana is prohibited for employees in this position, regardless of state legalization status.
  • Must have employment eligibility in the U.S.
  • Indian preference will be observed in the hiring process.
