Description

Peachtree Road United Methodist Church (www.prumc.org) is a large, active, and growing traditional church (~1,700 in weekly attendance) located in Atlanta's Buckhead community. PRUMC's youth ministry serves a vibrant and engaged group of students and families, and we are seeking a full-time Associate Director of Youth Ministry to join our team.


The ideal candidate will sense a clear call to youth ministry and have a passion for helping students grow in their faith through Wesleyan theology within the United Methodist tradition. We are looking for a self-starting, relational, team player who thrives in a collaborative environment and connects well with students, parents, and volunteers.


This role typically requires 3-5 years of youth ministry experience, particularly in recruiting and leading volunteers, and planning and executing trips and events. That said, we are most interested in finding the right person whose gifts and calling align with our common purpose to "model Jesus by helping young people feel fully known and truly loved."

Essential Job Functions


Confirmation Director

  • Lead PRUMC's year-long Confirmation program for 6th graders (approximately 40-65 students annually)
  • Recruit, equip, and support an adult teaching team
  • Coordinate curriculum, teaching schedule, and weekly logistics
  • Plan and lead the annual Confirmation retreat and Confirmation Sunday service

Volunteer Recruitment & Development

  • Lead the recruitment and development of adult volunteers ("shepherds")
  • Invest in volunteers relationally and equip them for effective ministry with youth
  • Recruit and mentor college students in the school-year internship program

Youth Leadership Team

  • Assist the Director and grow the Youth Leadership Team (currently 35+ students)
  • Develop student leaders through training, mentorship, and leadership opportunities

Trip Leadership

  • Serve as a primary leader for female students during local and global trips
  • Provide relational support, guidance, and pastoral care to middle and high school girls
  • Participate in the planning and execution of trips and retreats

Additional Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with youth ministry staff on weekly programming and special events
  • Contribute to the overall vision and direction of the youth ministry
  • Other duties as assigned

Education & Experience
