Position: Fitness & Massage Coordinator - Yoga Instructor Certification
Type: Full Time, Seasonal
Location: Blue River, BC
Reports to: Fitness & Massage Manager and Supervisor
Overview:
Responsible for serving guests and staff in person and via the telephone. Accountable for dealing with guest complaints, inquiries and massage bookings. Must ensure communication flow is maintained for relevant issues to all interested parties.
Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for maintaining the functions and activities occurring during the day-to-day business in the massage department.
  • In charge of all aspects of the gym including cleaning and appearance: massage area, whirlpool/sauna areas and common areas; orientation sessions with staff, attending to guests, stocking of supplies for gym/massage areas, maintaining a pleasant and fun fitness area for guests and staff.
  • Organizing and confirming massage requests and reservations in person, by email, and by phone
  • Responsible for Massage department communications with the Lodge.
  • Communications with front desk, reservations, and housekeeping.
  • Sets example to massage staff to follow specific procedures introduced by senior management and in the employee manual.
  • Assists and encourages staff to keep massage facilities, gym and equipment secure, clean, maintained and organized.
  • Immediately corrects any violations of company policy by an employee.
  • Maintains good working relationships with all departments, especially front desk/reservations department.
  • Maintains a proper and exemplary image on and off duty and represents MWHS with integrity.
  • Maximize relationships with guests and contacts.
  • Implementation of departmental policies and procedures, so as to ensure that all services to guests meet the highest standards of the hospitality industry and to ensure efficient and cost-effective operation.
  • Crisis Management: ensure no unauthorized communication with the media.
  • Emergency Response: participate in emergency planning, emergency simulations, and possible real-life emergencies as part of the emergency response and base rescue plans.
  • Participate in Occupational Health & Safety and comply with all provincial and federal regulations.
  • Able to lead a 30-minute stretch class.

The accountabilities listed above are provided as examples of area of responsibility and are not intended to create limits to responsibility but to help understand the scope of the position. All staff are expected to be team oriented and maintain confidentiality of all information gained while working with the company.
Requirements:
  • 1 to 2 years’ experience in the hospitality industry specifically with guest service orientation, sales and reservations experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of hospitality industry principles, methods, practices, and techniques.
  • Good working knowledge of massage therapy.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret the needs of guests and offer the appropriate options, solutions, and resolutions.
  • Yoga Instructor certification (with additional contractor compensation)
  • Exceptional conflict resolution, negotiation, and objection handling skills.
  • Able to respond quickly in a dynamic and changing environment. Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment.
  • Able to build and maintain lasting relationships with corporate departments, business partners, and guests.
  • Professional email and telephone communications.
  • General administration experience.
  • High level of proficiency with resort booking software, guest relationship management software, and Microsoft Excel.
  • Ski industry knowledge preferred.
  • Dynamic and energetic personality. Attributes include personal integrity, self-motivation, and a persuasive and positive personal image.
  • Willing to work a flexible schedule coinciding with work volumes.
  • Must have a strong knowledge of written and spoken English.
  • Knowledge of a second language (preferably German): spoken & written is an asset.
