Job description

Azure Fabric DataAI Architect

Seeking an experienced Azure Fabric DataAI Architect to lead the migration and modernization of our enterprise data platform. You will drive the transition from Yellowbrick to Microsoft Fabric Data Warehouse, rebuild pipelines in Azure Data Factory Fabric, and integrate Qlik QVDs. The role also covers optimizing the Power BI semantic layer, ensuring data governance, quality, and compliance with Microsoft Purview, and enabling AI Search, Intelligent Document Processing, and Gen AIAI Foundry capabilities. In addition to technical delivery, the role demands a strong emphasis on technical leadership for platform data architecture. You will help define and enforce modeling and architecture principles, informally lead the Platform Services team, and drive best practices for solution delivery, quality, and engineering excellence across the data ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive the end-to-end migration of Yellowbrick workloads into Microsoft Fabric Data WarehouseLakehouse.
  • Design and build new pipelines in Azure Data Factory Fabric to replace CloverDX.
  • Migrate and transform data from Qlik QVD sources into Fabric pipelines.
  • Implement and optimize business rules in the Power BI semantic layer.
  • Govern and monitor data quality, including deduplication, cleansing, and standardization.
  • Ensure compliance and handling of sensitive data (PII, PHI) in line with regulatory requirements.
  • Apply governance standards using Microsoft Purview for metadata, lineage, classification, and security.
  • Manage and optimize ADLS Gen2 as a storage backbone for Fabric.
  • Support AI Search and AI Intelligent Document Processing use cases on top of Fabric data.
  • Enable Gen AI and AI Foundry integrations by providing governed, high-quality datasets.
  • Implement Azure FinOps practices for cost optimization and performance efficiency.
  • Leverage Python for automation, advanced transformations, and lightweight ML tasks.
  • Collaborate with healthcare stakeholders; Epic Cogito experience highly desirable.
  • Mentor team members, manage the Platform Services roadmap, and champion engineering best practices.
  • Qualifications:

    • 15+ years of experience in data engineering, BI/analytics, and cloud migrations.
    • Expertise in Microsoft Fabric (Data Warehouse, Lakehouse, Data Factory, Power BI).
    • Strong knowledge of data governance and cataloging using Purview.
    • Hands-on experience with data quality, deduplication, and handling sensitive data (PII/PHI).
    • Proven ability to migrate and modernize pipelines from CloverDX or legacy ETL tools.
    • Experience with Qlik/QVD-based workflows and migration strategies.
    • Working knowledge of Azure AI services: AI Search, Cognitive Services, Intelligent Document Processing.
    • Familiarity with Gen AI project patterns and AI Foundry usage.
    • Proficiency with ADLS Gen2 for secure data storage and processing.
    • Skilled in Python for automation and transformations.
    • Leadership in platform engineering, architecture best practices, and team enablement.
    • Experience in healthcare analytics, specifically with Epic Cogito, is a strong plus.

    Preferred Skills:

    • Background in healthcare/life sciences data platforms.
    • Knowledge of compliance mandates (HIPAA, GDPR, FDA etc.).
    • Strong communication skills to bridge technical and business teams.
