Yard Utility Jobs (NOW HIRING)

Nurseries, you will play a versatile role in supporting various aspects of nursery operations and customer service. Your responsibilities will include performing a range of tasks such as equipment maintenance, yard organization, and customer assistance. This position requires flexibility, adaptability, and a willingness to contribute to the overall success of the retail yard.

• Assist with organizing and maintaining the nursery yard to ensure a clean, orderly, and attractive appearance. This may involve communicating plant material waste, rearranging plants, trees, and other merchandise, as well as cleaning and tidying up the yard area. 
• Perform routine maintenance and repair tasks on nursery equipment, including vehicles, forklifts, and hand tools. Ensure that all equipment is in proper working condition and safe to use. 
• Assist with loading and unloading plants, trees, and other nursery products into a variety of vehicles. Provide friendly and helpful customer service to ensure a positive shopping experience.
• Provide assistance to customers and colleagues by loading and unloading plants, trees, and other nursery products into a variety of vehicles, including cars, trucks, trailers, and vans
• Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines while performing tasks in yard such as, proper lifting techniques, operating equipment, handling merchandise, and ensuring a safe environment for customers and colleagues. 
• Demonstrated availability to work any day of the week.
• Other duties and tasks as assigned.

• Ability to perform manual labor. 
• Previous experience with operating power tools, hand tools, and other equipment preferred.
• Ability to follow specific instructions and safety protocols.

High School diploma or equivalent preferred.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to verbally exchange information with colleagues, managers and vendors. The position is active and may require standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing throughout the day. The employee must frequently reach for, pull, lift, and/or move items weighing up to and over 75 lbs. The employee must be able to work outdoors for extended periods of time in possibly extreme conditions, including rain, heat, sun, and wind.

• Realizar labores manuales para ayudar en el mantenimiento, almacenamiento y     cumplimiento de pedidos de los clientes en el vivero de paisajismo. 

• Transportar y mezclar tierra vegetal, fertilizante, turba y otros materiales para acondicionar el suelo, utilizando herramientas manuales. 

• Excavar, rastrillar y tamizar tierra para llenar cubos y cajas para la plantación. 

• Mostrar disponibilidad para trabajar cualquier día de la semana. 

• Otras tareas y deberes según se asignen. 

• Se prefiere diploma de escuela secundaria o equivalente. 

• Capacidad para realizar labores manuales. 

• Se prefiere experiencia previa en el uso de herramientas eléctricas, herramientas manuales y otro equipo. 

• Capacidad para seguir instrucciones específicas y protocolos de seguridad. 

Durante el desempeño de las tareas de este trabajo, el empleado debe comunicarse regularmente con colegas, gerentes y proveedores, a veces rápidamente por motivos de seguridad. La posición es activa y requiere estar de pie, caminar, agacharse, arrodillarse, inclinarse, agacharse, arrastrarse y trepar durante todo el día. El empleado debe frecuentemente alcanzar, tirar, levantar y/o mover objetos que pesen hasta y más de 50 libras. El empleado debe poder trabajar al aire libre por períodos prolongados en condiciones posiblemente extremas, incluyendo lluvia, calor, sol y viento. Se espera que la posición sea de tiempo completo y puede ser programada entre semana y fines de semana.
