About Us:

New York Edge is the largest provider of after school and summer camp programs in New York City public schools. Each year, programs in academics--including STEM, the arts, sports & wellness, and college access help 40,000 students develop leadership skills and succeed in school. Working parents count on our programs to provide safe and enriching environments for their children.

Summary:

New York Edge seeks a dynamic, motivated and highly organized individual to fill the role of School Aide. In this part-time role, you will be responsible for providing administrative support in the management of the daily operations of the community school, most notably in the area of technology assistance.

Schedule:

Part-Time

Monday – Friday (Some evenings and weekends required)

This role requires you to be in-person.

Pay:

$17-$18/hr

Salary is commensurate with experience, skills, education, and merit.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Under the supervision of the Principal or Community School Director, relieves school staff of activities which do not require teaching or other professional skills
  • Relieves school staff of duties such as yard, hall, lavatory, study hall and other monitorial and patrol duties
  • Maintains school inventories, including school technology like laptops, iPads, charging cables, HDMI cords, etc.
  • Handles, stores, and distributes technology devices, text books, and instructional supplies and special materials
  • Assists with clerical work of a routine nature
  • Assists in maintaining order in the lunchroom and facilitates lunch service. Receives the children in the lunchroom, directs them in washing, in disposal of wraps, and in lining up for lunch service.
  • Handles the arrival and departure of children transported to school by bus.
  • Additional duties as requested by Principal, Community School Director, or other school staff.

  • Ability to navigate modern technology devices within school environments and troubleshoot issues when necessary
  • Demonstrate ability to take initiative, work well under pressure and multi-task in a high demand and fast paced environment
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills with internal and external stakeholders
  • High attention to detail, responsible, flexible demeanor, and highly organized
  • Computer proficiency
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required. Some college preferred.
  • At least one year of relevant administrative experience.
  • Excellent written and personal communication skills, including strong grammar and editing skills
  • Knowledge of Excel, Word, Power Point, Google Docs, creating graphs and other presentation documents
  • A goal-oriented focus and a strong commitment to meeting competing deadlines
  • A positive, enthusiastic, and creative approach to problem-solving
