Job description

About the Unit

The Regional Transportation Coordinator will be the regional Subject Matter Expert (SME) and Supplier Relationship Manager (SRM) providing transport excellence in all required modes for the specified region. This role is responsible for collaborating with customers, suppliers, terminals, and internal departments to identify the best solutions, planning and implementing transportation services that are economical, timely, visible, safe and compliant, and avoiding waste through continuous improvement.
 


The Regional Transportation Coordinator will report to the Transportation Manager. The position will be based out of our Tampa, FL office and offer a hybrid work schedule.

Responsibilities
  • Subject Matter Expert (SME)
    • Regional Sales Manager (RSM) concerns/preferences, competitors, growth plans (e.g. review/negotiate for best rates to meet expectations, quickly respond to issues, avoid misunderstandings, communication before customer hears of problem, competitive transport intel to price against, collaborate on current and future needs, stay on top of changes, let RSMs know we're part of their regional strategy).
    • Get to know the concerns & preferences of terminals & other departments.
    • Strategy for each mode/segment of transport in the region.
    • Strategy to support growth (e.g. influence a key supplier to add a driver, move an existing supplier to key status).
    • Identify Supply Chain risks & mitigation possibilities (e.g. too few/unreliable/pricey suppliers, lack of backhauls, customer trucks, variables effecting demand--vessel delays, product pricing, weather, tank size at customer).
    • Collaborate with internal colleagues (e.g. alleviate potential problems before they create a negative situation with our customers, apply regional mindset to help with streamlining processes).
  • Strategic Supplier Management (SRM)
    • Make Yara the preferred customer of key suppliers (e.g. treat supplier respectfully as a partner, build trust, share information, provide a decent price, frequent communication, paying timely).
    • Know supplier's historical support to Yara (e.g. geography, equipment, personnel, preferences & growth plans).
    • Provide forecast & performance feedback (i.e. daily/weekly and scorecard quarterly).
  • Transport Excellence
    • Provide world class customer service that delivers a competitive advantage (e.g. preventative track/trace).
    • Negotiate competitive market rate.
    • Meet expected time frames (e.g. quotes, pickup, transit time, delivery, POD).
    • Maintain payment systems to ensure accuracy of supplier payments for transport (excluding railcar asset management).
Profile
  • Bachelor's degree or minimum 3 years of experience in related field.
  • Experience in supply chain or agriculture is a plus.
  • General knowledge of transport modes (Truck, Rail (Carload) & Barge - is a plus).
  • Consultative people skills.
  • Category management.
  • Supplier Relationship Management.
  • Negotiation skills.
  • Numerical and analytical skills. 
  • Problem solving skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (e.g. Excel).
  • SAP experience is a plus.
