Job Title: Controls Engineer ( Robotics)
Location: (Remote / Hybrid / On-site - City, Country) On SIte
Employment Type: (Full-time / Part-time / Contract) Contract (6-12 Months)
Pay Range: 60-65/Hr
Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Controls Engineer for a high-impact, 6-12 month contract in Austin, TX.
This role focuses on the optimization and integration of automated systems, specifically involving
Mitsubishi PLCs, Cognex vision systems, and multi-axis robotic platforms. The ideal candidate will be
responsible for refining code, enhancing HMI usability, and ensuring seamless vision-to-robot
communication. This is a critical role in a fast-paced environment where you will have direct ownership
over the efficiency of the production line. If you are a problem-solver who enjoys "deep-dive" technical
troubleshooting and high-end robotics integration, this contract offers a prime opportunity to showcase
your expertise in the heart of Austin's tech hub.
Key Responsibilities
PLC & HMI Development
• Modify and optimize existing Mitsubishi PLC code to improve machine logic and cycle times.
• Update HMI layouts: streamline verbiage, improve UI aesthetics, and develop robust error recovery
solutions to minimize downtime.
Vision Systems Engineering
• Configure and program Cognex vision systems for inspection and guidance.
• Implement and troubleshoot robot vision guidance protocols to ensure high-precision handling and
placement.
Robotics & Integration
• Program and calibrate Yamaha 4-axis (SCARA) robots using RCX Studio.
• Develop and refine motion paths for ABB 6-Axis robotic systems.
• Execute full-scale robotic systems integration, with a specific focus on synchronizing vision data
with robotic movement.
Required Qualifications
• Technical Expertise: Proven experience with Mitsubishi PLCs and HMI development.
• Vision Experience: Deep familiarity with Cognex hardware/software and the principles of robot
vision guidance.
• Robotics Proficiency: Hands-on experience with Yamaha SCARA (RCX Studio) and ABB 6-Axis
robots.
• Systems Integration: Ability to bridge the gap between vision, PLC, and robotics to create a
cohesive automated cell.
• Location: Ability to work on-site in Austin, TX for the duration of the contract.
Preferred Skills (Nice to Have)
• Language: Fluency in Mandarin Chinese (highly beneficial for communicating with global
equipment vendors).
• Advanced Controls: Deep architectural knowledge of Mitsubishi-specific automation suites
