About the Position:  

Starting your career at YAI as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) or Direct Support Professional (DSP) is the beginning of a path of career growth. This is a great opportunity for a student or recent graduate seeking clinical experience. 

As a DSP-RBT you will support people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to ensure their overall care and well-being in accordance with YAI program guidelines. DSP-RBTs will work directly with people in our Behavioral Health Home located in West Milford NJ in varying capacities.

Job Responsibilities:  

  • Provide support in a variety of settings and in accordance with each person’s individualized service and behavior support plans.  

  • Ensure health, wellness, and safety by providing appropriate supervision of the people we support.  

  • Help manage crisis situations while adhering to policies, procedures and regulations.  

  • Assist individuals in maximizing their strengths, interests, and abilities by upholding their personal rights, providing emotional support and building positive relationships.  

  • Perform other duties as needed. 

 Minimum Requirements:   

  • HS diploma or its educational equivalent 

  • A valid driver’s license may be required, based on position/location 

  • Must obtain Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification within one year of appointment – YAI will cover costs of all required training for the RBT certification.  

Additional Minimum Requirements by State: 

State of New Jersey (Behavioral Health Stabilization Homes): 

  • At least six months’ work or life experience with people with intellectual/developmental disabilities and/or behavioral challenges 

  • Must hold a valid driver’s license with no more than 5 points 

  • New Jersey State drug test screening is mandatory
