Job description

General X-Ray Tech (Contract)

Weekends: Fri- 10:30a-Mid, Sat- 8am-Mid Sun- 7:30a-4p (36 - preferred; would consider 40), on call, callback and holidays per unit needs
***Please note, must be able to report within 30 minutes to on call shifts***
ON CALL: 2-3 call shifts per month

X-Ray Technologist Responsibilities:

ยท Verifying patients' identity and reviewing physiciansโ€™ orders before beginning x-ray procedures.

ยท Using x-ray equipment to take radiographic images of patients' bones, tissues, and organs as per physiciansโ€™ written orders

ยท Explaining x-ray procedures to patients and answering their questions.

ยท Positioning patients accordingly, which may include lifting and moving patients with limited mobility.

ยท Handles all radiologic equipment safely and properly keeping dose to patient as low as possible.

ยท Observe each patientโ€™s status and interprets the appropriate information needed to meet his or her age-specific needs.

ยท Produces a diagnostic, high quality image for interpretation by the Radiologist.

ยท Promptly notifying management of damaged or malfunctioning x-ray equipment.

ยท Utilizes electronic patient information systems to verify patient name, date, appropriate exam, and any special exam specific comments from the provider. Understands and practices the Dual patient identifier procedure.

ยท Maintains accurate patient record keeping by properly identifying images and assuring images are sent to the PACS system correctly.

X-Ray Technologist Requirements:

ยท Completion of formal training in an approved School of Radiologic Technology and maintains Certification through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).

ยท NYS license (or able to obtain license prior to starting)

ยท 2 years of X-ray Technologist experience

ยท Level 1 trauma center experience

ยท Ability to move or lift patients.

ยท Ability to stand for extended periods.

ยท Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

ยท Effective written and verbal communication skills.

ยท A patient and compassionate disposition.

ยท Team player who can maintain a cohesive working environment.


Ability to report within 30 minutes to on call shift.
REQUIREMENTS:

BLS

Experience using c-arm/o-arm in the past 8 months
