Position Summary

The X-Ray Technologist / Radiology Tech Aide performs high-quality diagnostic radiographic imaging procedures while also supporting the daily operational needs of the radiology department. This onsite position is for an XRT/RTA that can cover both Cape Coral and Fort Myers and is responsible for patient preparation, image acquisition, radiation safety, scheduling coordination, room and equipment readiness, patient flow, and accurate documentation. The position works collaboratively with radiologists, physicians, and clinical staff to provide safe, efficient, and patient-centered imaging services while maintaining high standards of quality, empathy, and service excellence.

Essential Job Duties

  • Perform diagnostic X-ray imaging procedures in accordance with physician orders, established protocols, and applicable safety standards.
  • Greet patients professionally, verify patient information and imaging orders, explain procedures, address questions or concerns, and promote patient comfort and cooperation.
  • Prepare and position patients accurately and safely to obtain optimal diagnostic images while minimizing radiation exposure.
  • Operate radiographic equipment and accessories safely and effectively, and monitor equipment for proper functionality.
  • Review images for technical quality, accuracy, and completeness; repeat or adjust images as necessary to meet diagnostic requirements.
  • Assist with scheduling and coordinating radiology appointments to support timely patient access and efficient clinic workflow.
  • Support patient flow and procedure readiness by preparing imaging rooms, supplies, equipment, and accessories before and after procedures.
  • Maintain imaging rooms in a clean, organized, stocked, and safe condition in accordance with infection control and regulatory standards.
  • Maintain accurate and complete patient records, imaging documentation, and procedure information within the electronic medical record (EMR), imaging systems, and other designated systems.
  • Collaborate with radiologists, physicians, technologists, and other clinical staff to support diagnostic interpretation, continuity of care, and efficient operations.
  • Identify and promptly communicate patient concerns, workflow issues, supply needs, or equipment problems to the appropriate manager or clinical staff.
  • Adhere to all radiation safety standards, including ALARA principles, as well as infection control procedures, patient privacy requirements, HIPAA, and organizational policies.
  • Demonstrate empathy, professionalism, sound judgment, and effective communication in all patient, visitor, and staff interactions.
  • Maintain consistent, regular, and predictable attendance in accordance with the company's Attendance and Punctuality Policy; regular attendance is an essential function of this position due to direct patient care and operational responsibilities.
  • Work at other locations or support additional shifts, including weekends or extended hours, based on operational needs.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned that are consistent with the nature and scope of the position.

  • Ability to stand, walk, and assist patients for extended periods throughout the workday.
  • Ability to lift, move, or position patients and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, with or without assistance.
  • Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination sufficient to operate radiologic equipment, handle supplies, and use computer systems.
  • Ability to see, hear, and communicate adequately to perform imaging procedures and interact effectively with patients and staff.
  • Work is performed in a clinical imaging environment with frequent interruptions and potential exposure to radiation and infectious materials under controlled conditions.
  • Ability to work varied shifts, including weekends or extended hours, based on operational needs.

Qualifications

The requirements listed below represent the minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform this job successfully.

  • Graduate of an accredited radiologic technology program required.
  • Current certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) required.
  • Current state licensure as a Radiologic Technologist required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience performing diagnostic X-ray procedures required.
  • Knowledge of radiographic imaging protocols, radiation safety practices, patient care standards, medical terminology, and clinical workflows.
  • Experience with electronic medical record systems, imaging systems, and radiology scheduling processes preferred.
