X-Ray & Mammography Technician

Position Details:
  • Full-Time, Non-Exempt
  • Monday-Friday, 40 hours per week
  • Pay Range: $36.00 - $44.00 per hour
Job Summary
Produces diagnostic-quality radiographs and mammograms utilizing computed radiography, including 3D mammography. Navigates facility-wide computer systems such as PACS, EMR, Onepoint, and Report Vault. Digitizes films, burns images to CDs, and prints images as needed. Ensures x-ray and mammography orders are properly entered with appropriate assessments. Pushes prior mammograms and enters patient information into MAMM stats for new patients. Answers phones and responds to subpoenas.
Performance Requirements
Knowledge:
  1. Competency in all aspects of image acquisition (technique selection, patient positioning, and Lassen Medical Clinic's x-ray/mammography protocols)
  2. Knowledge of PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System)
  3. Knowledge of computed radiography
  4. Ability to navigate EMR, Onepoint, and Report Vault
Skills:
  1. Excellent skills in all areas of mammography and general radiology
  2. Thorough knowledge of patient positioning and x-ray setup

Major Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Operate x-ray and 3D mammography equipment and critique to ensure all images meet diagnostic quality standards
  2. Answer phones and assist with patient communication
  3. Perform basic functions in PACS and EMR
  4. Stock and maintain cleanliness of the department
  5. Scan documents
  6. Input outside x-ray and mammography orders
  7. Practice radiation safety protocols
  8. Retrieve reports from Report Vault
  9. Digitize films and burn CDs
  10. Respond to subpoenas

Job Qualifications
Equipment Operated:
Hologic Dimensions 3D mammography machine; x-ray machine; Fuji CR system; PACS; computer systems; phones; digitizer; scanner; oxygen tank
Education & Experience:
  • Must have a California State Mammography License (CRT-M)
  • Must have a California Radiologic Technologist License (CRT)
  • Associate degree in X-Ray Technology required

Physical Requirements:
Work involves standing, sitting, bending, lifting, and stooping. May require lifting up to 30 lbs. occasionally (up to 15% of the time) and intermittent moderate exertion (30-50 lbs., not routine). Requires frequent walking. Must have corrected vision and hearing. Ability to assist and transport patients (including wheelchair patients), lift CR cassettes and DR panels, and operate overhead x-ray equipment.
