Job description

Location: Tampa, FL (onsite)
NOTE: This is not a remote or hybrid position.
PD Power Systems, LLC is seeking a XML Technical Writer and Provisioner to join our integrated product support and documentation team. This individual will collaborate and work primarily with the Engineering Team. This position will involve writing high-quality technical manuals and performing hands-on procedure validation to verify accuracy. The role will involve an understanding of engineering assembly structure, the U.S. military's FLIS parts database, creating an exploded view in SolidWorks and vector graphics, and generating accompanying XML code with applicable data. Do not be intimidated if these terms are new to you - initiative, curiosity, and ownership are the requirements!
Roles and Responsibilities
  • Write technical manuals using varying source material, including engineering drawings and CAD models - quality and accuracy are valued over volume
  • Hands-on procedure validation - observe users perform tasks and record feedback
  • Develop and curate parts lists and create a parts break-down
  • Perform research on spare/replacement parts from military and commercial sources

Experience and Education
  • 2 or 4-year degree in any engineering discipline
  • Hands-on technical experience with mechanical/electrical equipment, such as vehicles or power generation systems
  • Prior experience in technical writing
  • Prior experience in any aspect of military Integrated Product Support (IPS)
  • MIL-STD-40051-2D Army technical manuals - XML; Arbortext
  • MIL-DTL-37929 Air Force technical orders - SGML
  • BONUS: military experience, especially a related MOS such as 12 or 91 series

Technical Skills
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Vector graphics (CorelDraw or Adobe Illustrator)
  • Programming in Python
  • XML and Arbortext
  • SolidWorks CAD
  • Powerlog provisioning system

Personal Skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, problem solving abilities.
