The Role:

The X-Ray Technologist performs X-ray, fluoroscopy and, if applicable, Mammography examinations in an efficient and effective manner while providing exceptional patient care.

Reporting to: X-Ray/Mammography Supervisor

Role Overview:

  • Operates or oversees operation of radiologic medical imaging equipment to produce high quality diagnostic images.
  • Verifies patient history and relevant information prior to beginning exam.
  • Communicates with patients in a professional manner explaining procedures and observing the patient during the examination to ensure safety and comfort.
  • Assesses and evaluates X-ray, fluoroscopic or mammographic images by ensuring the highest imaging quality to determine if images are satisfactory for diagnostic purposes.
  • Ensures that radiation safety measures and protection devices are used in accordance and in compliance with government regulations to ensure the safety of patients and staff.
  • Adheres to all privacy and confidentiality policies and procedures as they relate to EFW, our patients and our employees.
  • Demonstrates EFW values of Compassion, Trust, and Meaning in the workplace.
  • Subspecialty Training Opportunities in Mammography, Breast US, and MSK Pain Management.
  • Undertakes additional duties as assigned.

You have the following:

  • Diploma or certificate from a recognized Medical Radiation Technology program.
  • Ability to get your CAMRT/ACMDTT registration and license to practice in Alberta.
  • Ability to consistently produce excellent radiographic images.
  • Strong judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Exceptional time management and multitasking abilities.
  • Effective communication skills and a commitment to compassionate patient care.
  • Proficiency in RIS software and other relevant technologies.
